Hello i've been considering the RB swap for sometime... i was told by a decently reliable source that the 200zr (z31 300zx) rb20det actually bolts straight onto the 260z.... as opposed to the R32 skyline models which need modified mounts can someone confirm or othewise this!? as i have the oportunity to buy one in hte next few days! Thanks, Charles (and i'm asking on hybridz too!)

I am looking at putting most of my 280z (1977) race car onto a 240 tub. I am curious what I should have on my shopping list and what will fit. Things that I know are different. Dash Tranny Differential Radiator bumpers hood harness rear brakes motor exhaust fuel tank fuel pump door latches tail lights Some of those things are more crucial to have right on a race car than others and some just plain won't fit. anybody familiar with swapping back and forth who can give me some more clues? thanks Bryan

Hey Guys, Just bought a beautiful v8 Z that i have question about. When i was driving home i stopped at the store (after about 15 minutes of driving hard). When I came out the car had power but would not start (had to push start it). The only thing that i could figure is that the starter got really hot and for some reason this kept the car from starting. Anyone ever heard of that? The reason i say this is because after i got home, I let the car cool down, she started right up several times since (only driven round the block a few times). Any clues out there? Anyway taking pictures soon, this is a georgous car can't wait to show it. Thanks.

I am in the middle of a 240z restoration with an RB26DETT motor, I live in Los Angeles. There IS A GTR authorized dealer here, however engines are too expensive here, I am having one droped to me from England. Will post some pix of the project in progress later. Nice Forum! Henry

im about to do a motor swap into my 77 280z now it has a turbo 82zxt motor an i can deside either to do a rb20 or a rb 26 swap. can i get some helpful imput on the pros an cons for both of these swap options. im only want to make about 400 or so whp an i want it to be a daily driver but also a weekend monster:rolleyes: . i can get the rb20 with motor/tranny/ecu/an wireing for 1500.00 an it is stright for japan.an i can get the rb26 with everything that the rb20 has for about another 1500.00 or so. an im on a little bite of a budget thought, but i plan to mostly everything myself . i still in school so this is goin to be fun:sick: :sick:

I have very little reverse in my auto trans. I thought I read somewhere about a module going bad in the transmission that could cause this. I hate to have it rebuilt if this can fix it. And how would I know if this module is the problem?

i have a early 260z. I am thinking about swapping the bumpers for some early 240z bumpers. Has anyone done this conversion before? How much work would it be? Would it look good? I want to do this because my bumpers are small, but not as small as the 70-72 240's and I want to put the Nismo mesh grill off a fairlady Z on my car. Is there another way to be able to put that grill on without changing the bumpers? I would have to remove the bumper shock absorbers for sure. Any info would be great. Thanks so much, Ben

Hi,Guys Looking at a L200ET to buy as spare turbo motor and use turbo setup on my L28ET. Are the heads interchangable? I am pretty sure The manifolds are? Anyboby done the same! Any problems in doing this?? Sammy1970

hey guys, this is my first post aside from the classified posts, and i have been doing a lot of reading on this board, hrbridz.org, and other sources i can find. i want to put an rb26dett into my 280z. Ive seen it done, and know its possible. ive figured out the wiring (stand alone fuel management), and the mounting (full R34 front clip), but what i cant seem to grasp is the concept of how i can make the 4WD drivetrain of the rb26 into a RWD drivetrain? i have found information stating that the rb26 with its transmission provied almost 100% of the engines power to the rear wheels during normal driving, but under full throttle or hard cornering, it becomes 50/50 front rea…

Thak God the search is over. I was out running around from bone yard to bone yard today part hunting and hit gold. I found a bunch of 260 and 280s along with a ton of ZX cars. But just on a hunch I saw a newer ford thunderbird and thought I would look under the hood. BAM the hunt for my drive line is over:devious: Turns out the car is a 1993 thunderbird SC with a 3.8 supercharged V-6 and five speed. The car had a big time front hit and will never be good for anything but parts. Knowing this I talked with the owner and we set the price. Lets just say under 1000 :cheeky: It is VERY VERY clean with 54,XXX miles on it. I have never thought about this motor till I saw it…
