Hey Guys; Iam building a 72 with a small block Chevy and a 700R4. According to the JTR book the stock shifter and linkage will hook-up to the trans, and it does. The question, in the book it shows the shifter mounted to a piece of angle iron which is bolted to the trans, is this a inorder to prevent the trans from accidently shifting from torque or could the shifter be mounted to the floor??? How about using a cable shift, from a Camaro, mounted to the stock shifter . Thanks for the input in advance!! Peter

Hi All, This is my first forum entry, so I hope I'm doing it the right way. I am currently installing a RB20DET out of a R32 skyline half cut into a 1973 240Z. The sump/oil pick up modification will be initiated the next couple of days. I will document this and post photos to help others. I can't find any on the web for a reference. What is really needed is specific dimensions/photos showing the modification. Have you come across anything like that? I'm a little unsure how far back I should mount the engine gearbox. With un-modified front engine mounts, the tail shaft length is correct, but the gear stick sits about 70mm to far forward compared to stock. If I move it bac…

hey hey, im currently buildin an L24 with 2.6 crank and rods. forged pistons board out to a 2.815L (this way when a cop pulls me ova and ive got a blower on my engine i cant get in $^!# for adr's) lightend fw, cam, etc. at the moment im going for a 280zx Efi sytem, im not force feeding just yet but the engine will be built for it when i get around to it, my problem is what head to use, i will be using larger valves no matter what but which one would give me a good compression ratio without to much chamber work? also im interested in peoples opinions on the 280zx Efi sytem? cheers =Daniel=

I was wondering what is a moderate costing (don't want to spend over $1500) Sticky tire, slightly taller and wider 4 bolt wheel and tire combo swap. Oh and Wheels should look good lIke a 6 -7 spoke silver or gunmetal shape. I think stock 280Z's have a 14 x7wheel size just to slippery for the V8 conversion. I need something that will look nice every day but hook up at the track. a 16x9 probably would work. Any input????????

I have a 1973 V8 Z with a 327 Chevy/5 speed. It has full-length Hooker headers specially engineered for this swap. I've owned the car since early 1995 and have always had a problem with the front brakes. When the car is cold, they are fine. After driving around for a while, especially in traffic, they bind up. The pedal gets hard and the front brakes drag-very aggravating. I've put up with it long enough! Time to fix the problem. I figure that the brake fluid is boiling from the headers and adding pressure to the lines/master cylinder. I have also switched to a higher temp fluid with poor results. Will re-routing the front lines remedy the problem? Any suggestions would b…

It's a question asked a lot and I'm sorry for asking again, but I had the thought of buying a used 2001 Celica gts or using the money to dump into the Z. I went back and forth on this for a day and thought that I can't leave my Z behind after all the work I put into finding it. So Any here done this motor swap:confused: What else is required beside and long block motor including turbo ecu wiring harness and tranny. Is it hard to wire up? i has planning on buying the motor and go on vacation for a week off of work and put the engine in, but I want to adress most of the problems before I deside to stripe my car apart. Thanks for your help:confused: -ps. Sorry for the…

HI ALL, I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF FITTING A R32 RB20DET DRIVE TRAIN INTO A 73' 240Z. I'M A BIT UNSURE WHETHER THE STOCK 240Z FUEL TANK BAFFELS ARE SUFFICIENT FOR NORMAL STREET USE. RUNNING A NEW COMMODORE VL TURBO FUEL PUMP AND USING THE OLD DRAIN HOLE FOR FUEL EXIT, I'M HOPING THE OEM BAFFELS SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT. THE OLD EXIT IS USED AS A RETURN LINE. THE OLD RETURN LINE IS SOLDERED CLOSED. THE TWO BAFFELS ARE APPROX 200MM APPART WITH THE EXIT IN THE MIDDLE. ANOTHER CONCERN IS THAT I WOULD CLOSE UP THE BAFFLE GAPS BY USING POR15 SLOSHING FUELTANK SEALING PAINT. TO ME IT LOOKS LIKE THE FUEL ESCAPES THROUGH THE TINY GAP BETWEEN THE SPOTWELDS OF THE BAFFELS TO THE FUEL…

i forgive for double posting, but this hasnt been geting so much as a bite in the engine section, and i figured this would be more apropriate after further inspection... well, after observing a Thunderbird SC with the M90 roots blower, i got to thinking, 'wow, i wonder how hard it would be to make that M90 call my AC bracket home' especially because i like the low end power that a roots can give, and it sure as hell is a lot cheeper and easier to do than geting a 280ZX turbo drivetrain (and it lacks the lag). I do have some questions, however, on what i should go about doing while i quickly leap from the realm of mundane into that of insane. First off, i know im going to…

Please excuse my ignorance. :stupid: I have been looking for a gas tank for my '72 240Z and haven't had much luck. I haven't looked all that hard, but I am wondering if this might be a good option for me. Are there drawbacks to this sort of system? Would it be street leagal here in California? Would I be better off finding an original tank? Thanks for the input.
