Last summer me and a buddy stuck a 1995 Z-28 LT1 into a 1972 240Z. we used LT1 Edit, (or you can use Tuner Cat) software with a lap top computer on this swap. We eliminated the VATS module (PASSKEY II, anti theft device that shuts the fuel injection off and not just the fuel pump like rumors have it), we also re-adjusted the speedometer (have to install electronic speedometer and gauges) turned off the evap-purge, electric smog pump. And sanderson hot rod headers! these are the vette style (ram-horn) sanderson coated headers! I sold my 260Z because I did not think the frame was strong enough (after I fixed the rusted out drivers side) to swap the 1997 LT1 engin…

I have just joined your Z-Club and would like to thank you all for the wealth of information that this club has already provided me. A couple of weeks ago I found a post that showed a picture of a carborated Skyline motor in an older 240-280Z. I was wondering if anyone had anymore information about this type of swap. A Couple of questions: Would the steering line up as the Skyline is right-hand drive in Japan? Why put carbs on something that could potentially use twin-turbos and fuel injection and be twice as fast? Since most Skylines are 4WD, how would one hook that into a 280Z? Or can a different transmission be subsituted? Thanks in advance for any information that a…

Hi everyone, im new to this site and i REALLY dont know much about the 240 engine ( or even what its called, like z31 or L28 but i intend to read the tech info like crazy ) Right now im really looking at restoring an early 240Z, now my original intention was going to be dropping a 280zxT motor into the restored body of the car. Now, my question is this...is it possible to turbo charge the engine of the 240? insted of putting a new engine in? If it is possible has anyone done it? what are the costs and what procedures must you go through to do it? thanks alot everyone Matt

hi, i'm new to this board, i'm thinking of purchasing a '73 240z that had a 5.0 mustang engine put in already. it's not in running condition. it needs all the accessories put back on the engine, the fuel lines have to be hooked up and the driveshaft from the mustang has to be spliced along with the driveshaft from the Z car. it also needs a rear window and a custom exhaust system. he's selling it for $2600CDN. is this worth getting into? he says he doesn't have enough money to finish it off but yet he says it'll only cost a couple hundred bucks to get the engine running....what else should i look for?

An interesting idea popped into my head yesterday while driving my company's Jeep Cherokee around. It has the 4.0L High Output straight six with a standard and is very easy to get a second gear scratch out it. Now I figure if it has that much power in such a heavy vehicle, what would it be like in a 2300 lb Z? Since the engine is an inline six, there shouldn't be any major mods other than the mounts and working up some way to attach the trans. Or could you use the Jeep 5 speed? Has anybody done this or heard of it being done? Just a real quick reason why I'm thinking about this. Last weekend I went to a Porsche Club of America race (PCA) down in South Texas. My Z …

has anyone here done this conversion? a rod just blew on my original L24 and the engine is frozen up and unable to be rebuilt/refurbished...so i am left with buying a new engine. i couldnt find anybody with a L24 but found a 1982 L28. Does the L28 with 72 SU's really make a difference in performance? the compression ratio is lower, but the engine is lighter. Im in a bind financial wise and since the L28 is cheaper, im thinkin about it...but if performance isnt as good ill just look for another L24...

has anybody done the oversized piston updrade from Motorsport Auto? I am still thinking about improving performance without a significant cost and the pistons sounded intriguing. What kind of performance boost could i expect out of the .04 oversized? More HP or what?
