I'm installing a vacuum pump to supply the brake booster with vacuum, it came with a sensor that detects low vacuum that triggers power to the the vac pump. I'm not at all sure if this sensor requires power to make it work or if it simply supplies power to the pump by a switch that is activated by low vac. Anyone have experience with these kinds of sensors? Thanks, Chris

Can I use just the outer OE valve spring to get the wipe pattern right? Honsowetz's book uses special "set up springs" that I don't have but I would like the least resistance I can get while doing this. All my lash pads are .190s and I figure I'll do a lot of filing to get them right. Any experience on which to use while doing this would be appreciated. Thanks, Cliff

just in time for xmas, i have been forced to make difficult decisions about where my car is going. later i realized the only difficult part is the lack of funds part and or the rational allocation of funds. i can be very creative and would love nothing more as a zcar enthusiast than to take her to the limit and build the dream car. ( this will not happen ) but it's a ton of fun to build a dream. so i have posted this thread because i want to hear if you have a dream car and how you would configure it. there are no limitations to cost or rational thought and if you need to utilize thechnology that does not yet exsist ( well that's ok to ) what the heck, build two cars (…

When we got the engine running the other day I noticed a fairly big oil leak coming from the upper front of the engine, about 1 drop per second, after removing every thing to get a good look I can see a crack that almost circles a flange that holds the front of the head to the timing chain cover. I'm sure this is where the oil leak is coming from. Behind where the crack is, is the timing chain galley, so what are my options here to fix this? Weld it from the outside, try and seal a patch of some kind over it from the inside? I'm willing to try anything before removing the head.

I will be running MS in my Z, it won't be on a Nissan engine but it is a fuel injected straight six. Wondering if there is anyone in the membership who is fluent in the MS lingo that I can bounce some issues around with. I am on one of the MS forums but they don't have a lot of time for newbies stumbling their way through. Thanks, Chris

This bmw engine I'm putting in the Z doesn't lend it self to taking vacuum from it for the brake booster so have been thinking about using a 12v vacuum pump to do the job. Hella makes a pump that seems to be used a lot in Volvo, VW and Audi but I have zero experience with these things. I'm not even sure how much vacuum is required by our brake boosters and I have read a few times in the archives of Hybridz of guys doing away with the vacuum assist altogether. Any advice is welcome,

I have just become the new owner of a 71 240z (series 1 car). My son and I also own a 73 240z that is to far gone to fix up, and has become a parts car. My question is has anyone removed the front rear deck tool storage pockets from a later 240 to retrofit into a series 1 car, and if yes do you have pic's? The 71 needs some bodywork and most if the interior redone, it has a l28 so it is not a No. correct car and I am not sure if I am going to keep it totally correct with the rebuild, or make it comfortable to drive with PW PL and updated seats. Thanks Dave

I got a '95 Sentra with bone chilling air for $400. I've read people talk about it but nothing ever definitive or successfully done. Is there any way I might rob the system and put it in my 240? The evaporator box is looking like a good swap as is the blower. The hardlines could be fabbed up I think. Has anybody ever done this? I've got a $400 car that blows 45 degree a/c. Vintage air is $1200 just for parts. Thanks for any ideas, good or bad. I'm hoping someone else has thought about this.

I checked the search feature but not much came up. Anybody here do the install for this? Their latest version has 3 pieces and a bunch of bolts. Very nice quality anodized parts. No instructions so I asked and they sent some nice pictures but they appear to be for an earlier version with everything mounted underneath the strut towers. The top billet piece has all the hash marks for indexing where the settings are but if it goes underneath like the pics you cant see them. I am waiting on a clarification from them but thot I would see if anyone on here has done an install. I chose bolt in because I didn't want to weld in that area of the car, especially on the rear…

Anyone know if there is a significant benefit of one over the other? Price is not a factor. My gut tells me AZ is the better suspension (certainly looks sexier) but, I could just be biased.

I thought I'd share this mod that I did, I really like it. I didn't like the look of my front air dam without lights in the cutouts. But I didn't want too much going on in the front. So I custom-hacked a set of fog lights to work as the turn signals. And then used a 240z grille to replace the stock grille and the stock turn signal locations. I like it

Right now I am keeping my 240z stock for some while, but that isnt going to stop me from looking around at some V8 powerplants. [smile] I have mainly been looking at LS1 engines, but have not looked over at the 5.0L and 4.6L V8's from Ford that are found in the Mustangs. Can these engines fit in there without having to do any unnessicary work? They dont push as much power as the LS1 does, but it is still a lot of power for almost half the cost. Plus I am thinking with this, I might be able to find some aftermarket supercharger and for the same price as an LS1 and get even closer to 400hp. Plus I am thinking about front/rear weight ratio and if the Mustang engines might …
