I had to change the harmonic balancer on my son's Eclipse. Try as I may, I couldn't budge that 22mm bolt with a breaker bar. So I borrowed a co-workers Craftsman 1/2" Impact Driver. I had my son get in the car and told him to put his foot on the brake. Three seconds later I said "we're done". He asked "is it stuck?". I said "no, it's off - not loose, it's off". How in the wide-wide-world-of-sports did I ever survive without owning an impact driver? That free use of an impact driver is about to cost me several hundreds for a 1/2" driver and socket set. A 3/8" set wont be far behind. When I think back to how many times I've struggled with stuck or hard-to-get at nuts and bo…

Hi Well it's that time of year again when Bill Coffey throws his famous "Garage Party". If you haven't been to one of these you are missing a great time. Lot's of great Z cars as well as many other types of vintage racers and hot rods. The date is Saturday October 29th and starts at 11:00 AM. I just got the flier from Bill and he asked me to post it for him. Derek Garage party 2011.pdf

In an effort to stem the tide of PMs and emails, here is a summary of answers to the questions I've been getting: Yes, that is my 240Z on eBay. Yes, I really am trying to sell it. No, I don't have to sell it. This is not a forced sale due to health, job, financial situation, etc. I'm selling because I have a short automotive attention span, and I've been part of the Z community for 6 years now. Time to move to something new, fresh challenges and new things to learn. No, keeping the Z while adding something new isn't feasible. If I get something new, the Z will just sit, ignored. I'm rather single-focused. No, I haven't made any firm decisions on what will be next, except …

Hey All, Well the beautiful Whidbey Island rain finally got to me this weekend while trying to work on the Z. Dry for over an hour, and as soon as i touched the car it started to rain again, its like it was waiting... So i decided to tear down the wall that the prior owner of my house had put up to make a heated living space. I guess i just wanted to see how other people on this board did things with there garage. I dont want to do anything too crazy , i was thinking of laying down some nice floor paint and building shelves but past that , i didnt really come up with anything fancy. Any ideas would be great, even the far fetched ones. :classic: Thanks -Steve

I don't have an S30 b/c my dad has 4 of them (Diseazd) But I have a 1972 510 and a 1992 BMW E34 525. Both of which have extensive work done. I do plan to get an S30 some day in the near future but I want to do some sort of modern motor swap when that time comes. The 72 510 has a Rebello Frankenstein 2.3 L20. 14 light weight panasports, Nissan comp header, Crane ignition, Twin Mikuni 44's, Roadster 5 speed, Ermish coilovers and F&R sways. It's really fun to drive and sounds insane When I got the car the wiring was all hacked, It had a euro M3 style mirror, BRE stripes, a 240z hood section molded into the 510 hood, no carpet and the engine bay looked awful. The car…

Higuys, I've been using a cool new application for android phones/tablets that can record your road trips. It's call GPS Tracker Lite. You can get it via the Android Market. Basically, it records your GPS location and your waypoint data, and can display a Google Map as you travel, or you can view the map after you finish recording. The map will show the roads you traveled, with the speed colour-coded. You can also view some charts of speed, altitude, etc. You can then upload the track data to Google Maps or OpenStreet Map, Facebook, etc. for others to view.

Hey Everybody, I had a little "experience" this weekend that I think I should share with everyone here, even though it doesn't directly involve a Z car. Friday night me and my friends were out doing our usual screwing around with automobiles (muscle cars, I'm the only one with a non-american car ). Anyways we decided to set up and video tape a burnout with two cars side by side which we've done plenty of times before. The two cars that lined up for this were my friend's '86 Monte Carlo SS (383ci, it's never been dyno'd but it pulled an 11.8 in the 1/4 last time it was at the track), and my other friend's '73 Corvette (410hp 350ci, just broken in 6…

I didn't know exactly where to post this. It saddens me to have to post it anywhere. I received this email from Joe & Carol Hastie this morning: For those that don't know, Fred was founder of the Datsun Heritage Museum in Murrieta, Ca. as well as having been the sales manager of San Diego Datsun which was one of the first Datsun dealerships in the U.S.
