I must be searching the wrong thing because I didn't find an answer. What is the 7 digit number on the top of the transmission? I know there are different shapes and different shif levers which differentiate the transmissions but does the number on top have any bearing?

I hope everyone at Z-con11 had the chance to hear Bob Sharp's informative talks. I used to watch him race at Lime Rock, back in the day, but never knew how funny, entertaining and personable he is. It was well worth the 40 min. or so to take a break from detailing and listen to his stories and anecdotes. What a great guy. If the Coastal Z club invited him, I thank them. If he just showed up, well, thanks for coming Bob; it was a pleasure to meet you.

The local Kart Club (tickets through the Z Club) hosted an fundraiser last night to premier the new Senna movie. http://www.ckrc.com/SennaMovie.htm Really well done movie using only archive footage- no present day commentary. Some cool home videos and F1 backroom stuff from a very Brazilian perspective. Very moving and I would highly recommended the movie. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/senna/ Wouldn't be a bad idea for other groups to fundraise- completely sold out at 300 persons $30/ticket + silent auctions and raffles. The film's producer obviously supported- we were told that the movie won't be released until September.

Not a Z, but about that size. Anyone have any car transporters they have had good luck with? Obviously, affordability is also important. Luckily, I'm right on the I-5 corridor, so that might help.

My S2000 still has a metal clunk on the driver's side when going over bumps slowly. I changed the worn sway bar end links, fixed a loose side marker light in the fender and fixed all loose plastic under car panels. This improved things except for a quieter clunk. Last week I was tapping underside suspension parts with a rubber mallet and noticed when I hit the drivers side outer tie rod I had a metal clunk but not on the passenger side. It looks like a bad tie rod (not sure if inner or outer) however, the steering is rock solid and, with the wheel up in the air, I can not notice any slop when push-pulling at 3 &9 o'clock. Anyone ever have a similar gremlin with a ti…

Decided to do an experiment today.. Using vodkas amazing ability to suck up any flavor you put in it. I took a 1lb bag of skittles, and 1.75l of vodka separate the colors, and pour an equal amount of vodka in each jar. From what i've heard you will be able to taste the sweetness of the skittle yet keep the flavorless burn of the vodka. I can't wait to see how this turns out tomorrow and i will share the results. If all goes well next week will be jolly ranchers edit: thanks for moving, i wasn't paying attention when i posted this! you saved me a PM

Yokohama AS430 on rear went bald in center after 7,000mi. I read some website content and some say it is due to too much rear toe -in and others say it is "too low" tire pressure (which conflicts with rule of thumb that excess tire pressure causes center wear). My initial tire pressure was 30psi when stock is 32. I dropped it to 28psi when I noticed the wear but it did not make a difference. Rear toe-in is 6mm Any comments?

Hi guys. I know I've not been active 'round here as of late, but I've been biding my time, preparing my garage for the eventual 240Z arrival and resto project. Lord know, I gotta be organized before it moves in. Anyway, wanted to let you guys know about a new car blog I've recently started: http://www.spannerhead.com/ When the 240Z moves and goes under the knife, it will be the very first Spannerhead Project Carâ„¢. As they say, watch this space.
