OK, I just have to ask this, because it sounds pretty funny to me. There seems to be a generational trend for kids to speak of "turning on" or "turning off" an engine, almost as though they were flipping a switch or something. This sounds every bit as peculiar to me as "you guys" and especially "yooz guys" sounded to me as I relocated from South to North. So do you think this "turning on/off" language related to the relative ease of starting a modern engine? Some cars even have "start" buttons, sometimes even starting by remote control. Back long before MY day, someone would have to CRANK an engine by hand. No electric starters. I have no question nobody would have…

OK I recently sold my 280ZX-T and had plans to buy something more practical, probably a pickup truck. But as usual I got sidetracked when going through the classified and stumbled upon this ad for a '84 Bertone X1/9 with only 15,600 miles and a price of $5K. Of course I've always been a Datsun/Nissan guy and know NOTHING about these cars. I did go look at it yesterday.....and its very clean with just a small amount of surface rust. The interior is like a new car. I was pleasantly surprised at the roominess, at 6'2 and over 200 lbs., I was able to easily get comfortable. The car was a hoot to drive, alot quicker than you would think for something with just 75 hp, and extr…

Using rust-oleum diluted in mineral spirits and a paint roller! can there really be any redeemable qualities in this?! Would any of you dare to do it to one of your car? Just YouTube it. Doesn't look half bad to be honest. This guy spent about $180 but did a bit more pre and post work I'm actually impressed http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/ieb51/i_painted_my_car_with_a_roller_pics_ama/ I might just do a flat black on mines in the meanwhile.

Hello everybody, I removed my radiator hose/ water temperature sensor wire clip, recently hoping that someone out there with Z part-reproducing experience might be able to reproduce it. I know these tend to get brittle over time and snap, but mine is surprisingly pliable. I know that nissan makes a different clip to replace it, but for the sake of originality, it might be worth reproducing- especially after seeing some interest on another thread: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?28549-where-can-i-get-these&highlight=wire+clamp This is the new one nissan currently makes (got image off ebay):

After four years in Cold Lake, I wasn't able to swing another posting to the US, so we're off to Winnipeg in July. Any Z owners in Winnipeg?

Most people don't seem use their turn indicators but when they do, why do some manufacturers cheap-out and not use orange plastic lens'? I never understood the safety issue being outweighed by penny pinching? Most of the world uses yellow for separate turn indicators and the human eye is much more sensitive to colours near yellow than red. Am I missing something or is it just cheap-arse manufacturers?
