Aloha, Just wondering what you guys feel is the biggest challenger to your Z's on the track or on the street. BritCars? BMW's? Ever chastise a 911? Honestly, my heart is torn between Z's and 911's. I asked a similar question in a Porsche forum and the Z never came up. So far. :classic: mahalos, Joel

Bunch of us from work got together and drove from Foster City to the Blackhawk Auto Museum in Danville. Took a bunch of pics but not that many came out well. Taking pics wasn't easy, because it was dark with lots of hi-intensity spotslights. Long exposures and no tripods allowed inside... This particular car really caught my attention. Talk about some wild fins! Not much rear-side visibility, but who cares! It was a one-off design study and they had several different verions.

I consider my car more of a journey than an automobile. It is something glorious from days far before I was even a thought, and it is a legacy in a sense, passed down from my Dad to me ( he had one back in the day). That being said...I want to try and 'experience' the Z as I would have in the 70's. So, all you old-timers...if you could pick two or three albums for me to listen to while I drive/work on the 240z, which would they be, and why? I'm entirely serious about this...music and cars are VERY spiritual to me...somehow =/

I think my next car will be a 280z or a z31. I'm a non purist and if I buy a 280 it will get an L28et and a standalone engine management. The obvious benefits are that I'll have no emissions testing and I can get rid of most of the cluster**** of wires and hoses. Anyway...like it or not, I'm still lurking

Short story but driving down by the Potomac river in D.C I spot a 280zx parked with the owner relaxing with their feet out the door around 4-6 p.m. If I'm correct it was brown?. Anyways just wanted to tell whoever the owner of the car was props to them for the clean Z, it's rare to see 'em just out in the nova/metropolitan area.

So, I've been quite busy saving my Z's life these past few months. When I got her she wouldn't and couldn't run and she was so sad. She sat in the lot crying day and night, 'cos nobody loved her- until now. For some reason everyone was driving like maniacs out here in Cleveland Ohio this morning, so I stepped her up a notch 'cos she wanted to go with the crowd. I had her up to 80 and felt a big smile come over her old face, and I had a shiny one on me too! I've picked up some body pieces along the way, a brand-new looking front valance and a couple of front fenders.. and a 4 foot piece of sheet metal and I have a good friend with a mig. I wish I had more to give her…

At a recent car show a very-original 240Z had something I'd never seen or heard of before: a hand written tag made of balsa wood that was apparently hanging from the rear-view mirror when the car was originally delivered. The tag contains the VIN as well as the color code. Some people claimed that these were used during shipping and should have been discarded at the port or by the dealer. I know that some of you are already familiar with this particular car but I thought I'd throw it out here for further discussion. I'm hoping that some of our resident historians will see this and be able to shed some light onto it.

Hey guys, Well it's time again for the annual Rod Run to the End of the World! It's September 11 &12 and is consistently one of the largest gatherings of hot-rods in North America. It takes place in Long Beach, WA. It consistently attracts 1000+ registered vehicles plus thousands more spectators and unregistered. However, they changed the rules and registration is only open to 1973 and older. Because of this and the economy, attendance fell last year but it's fun none-the-less! As with any large gathering like this, there are people who try to ruin it for everyone else. Lots of mud-covered lifted pick-ups and late model corvettes/mercedes/etc acting like jerk-offs (…

I know this is'nt a Z distributor because it is 4 cylinder, but I wondered if anyone could identify it. It is the same configuration as an L series dizzy in length and fitment ( fits an L series front cover) and has the same offset drive. It is electronic but seems to have strange vacuum advance pipes. Made by Mitsubishi. Anyone ?

Kinda like my other thread, I need help with a decision. I need to make at least 5,000 dollars to buy a Datsun 280z and to fix it from the ground up. I'll be getting a workers permit (since I'll be 15 this fall) and am going to be working during the summer and might partially work during the school year. With the Z I'm going to add in after market brakes and suspension along with switching bumper out so it resembles a 240z more than a 280 and have it painted in a shiny midnight blue. I'll also be redoing the interior if it's in bad condition and I'm going to rebuild the engine with a friend and fix up the rust if it has any. The real question is where should I work? I wa…
