G'day ladies and gentlemen, Ok, so it's not on my horizon any time soon, but I do love these cars so much...figured I'd start small and work my way up.... I actually have two of these, the other is a Safari version which will be made to street spec.. This is a kit of a 240ZG, made by Tamiya a few years ago..it is a large 1/12 kit which allows plenty of room for enhancement..which is where I'm heading. My first challenge was to find some Watanabe style rims...it was a search which proved faithless...not even 1/10 R/C stuff was going to be suitable. So, I set about making my own.....this is how I started the rims.. Tyres also needed to be scratch-built, all ent…

I was cruising around the net looking for some 'period' photos of 240Z's, just to see what I can find, and I ran across some nice shots of the interior and exterior of a 240Z from 1972. They're on this page... http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/Retrospective3.html Uh. The 'woman' in the front seat is actually a man, but if you can get past that it's interesting to see what a 'white interior' car looked like when new.

I have a 240z with a 280z electronic ignition distributor. I have been reading and it seems to say the resistor mounted on the fender well by the coil is not needed when you run a electronic distributor. And even limits the output of the coil because the ballast resistor was there originally to limit the voltage as to not fry the points, but since I have no points anymore taking the resistor out will increase the voltage output of the coil. Is this true? And if so do I simply remove the resistor and connect the wires together? Thanks...Bob This is what I read: BALLAST RESISTORS Surprisingly, stock coils on older 12V points systems on every car were designed to operate…

Just heard one of those songs that rarely comes on the radio, and every time it does I wish I knew what it was so I could download it. It's an 80's song that's loosely related to David Bowie's "Space Oddity" in that it's about Major Tom being out in space. The chorus is: 4, 3, 2, 1 [can't remember the two words that fit on this line...dangit!!] drifting, falling floating weightless coming home

NUMMI (New United Motor Manufacturing, Incorporated) is / was a joint venture between GM and Toyota in Fremont, CA. This American Life did a radio story on March 26, 2010, that discusses NUMMI's history in fascinating detail. Here's how This American Life describes the show: NUMMI A car plant in Fremont California that might have saved the U.S. car industry. In 1984, General Motors and Toyota opened NUMMI as a joint venture. Toyota showed GM the secrets of its production system: how it made cars of much higher quality and much lower cost than GM achieved. Frank Langfitt explains why GM didn't learn the lessons – until it was too late. Audio Link here: http://www.thi…

I Have not seen this concept before so wanted to share it with you. A few pictures: http://www.3dluvr.com/grid/gallery/D_240Z_conc_95__.jpg http://www.3dluvr.com/grid/gallery/D_240Z_conc_96__.jpg http://www.3dluvr.com/grid/gallery/D_240Z_conc_97__.jpg http://www.3dluvr.com/grid/gallery/D_240Z_conc_98__.jpg http://www.3dluvr.com/grid/gallery/D_240Z_conc_99__.jpg Here is a short you tube of the combined images: I am not sure about the rear as I never did like the 'slats' look but I think overall it is a nice evolution of the S30. Not sure if the thin pillars would pass crash test ratings nowadays but who knows. What do you think?

I'm working on a project to see if we can have custom designed stainless exhaust systems manufactured for our Zs. If all works out well, options would include: entire systems (including stainless header); downpipe-back; CAT-back; down-pipe only and muffler only. Muffler options would include: single or dual tips, in either vertical or horizontal orientation. Initial feasibility studies are promising, ie: low minimum order numbers and favorable pricing. The manufacturer (STEBRO) is located here in Ottawa and has extensive experience manufacturing systems for Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porche. As my '73 has no exhaust system (hence the interest) I need an early Z (pre-C…

This is my Z car. There are many like it, but this one is MINE. My Z is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My Z without me is useless. Without my Z, I am useless. I must drive my Z true. I must drive faster than my enemy who is trying to pass me. I must outbrake him before he outbrakes me. I will... My Z and myself know that what counts in racing is not the fuel we burn, the noise of our exhaust, nor the rubber we leave. We know it is the corners that count. We will hit the apex... My Z is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weaknesses, its strengths, its parts, its engine, it…

I am a bad boy! I intended to post up these photos shortly after the event in Daytona. I was labeling each with owner names. Sometime later before completing the task my computer crashed. All this time I thought the photos were gone forever. My wife found them (copy) on her drive. Sooooo...as soon as a moderator approves them they will be available under my name (billcapp) in the ZCCA folder unless the mod is kind enough to provide a direct link (hint, hint). If I come across the notebook with the info as to whos car is whos I will add the info later (promise not in two or three years). Please enjoy and don't be afraid to add your name to the photo if you see you…
