Well guys I'm on my way. I'll be leaving South Carolina 10/3. Going to NY via Washington D.C. Then Paterson NJ. And finally Niagara Falls! (Road trip!). If you see me on the road give me a honk. My Z will be trailered:cry: I've got too much stuff to drive it.

So I'm at my local "rent-all" down the street place picking up a trailer the other day and I gaze across the street to see the following behind the mechanic shop: Both are turbo's. Seem to be at least lightly modded (witness the exhaust pipe on the Z31...). Interiors are pretty rough. Paint jobs are maybe a 5 or 6 out of ten (on paint quality...aesthetics are a personal choice). Z31 is an standard, S130 is an automatic. So I figure, potential parts cars?:nervous: So I give the mechanic a call the next day and the call. The transcript goes something like this: ...ring ring... Mechanic: Hudson Autotech Me: Hi there, I'm calling to get some informa…

Stick with this. I come from a muscle car/hot rod (Corvette specifically) background, since I was a wee lad I've been surrounded, but I wound up dissenting... Well, my dad did own 3-4 Z cars when I was younger too in any case, but when he approached the government's mandatory Corvette issuing age of 40 they were forced out of garage... In my years of having non-Vettes, it's kind of nice not to be driving around in a marketting mobile (I cringe every time I see Corvettes emblazoned on all sorts of consumer wares, and those annoying, minimalist nick nacks and gizmos with Porsche badges. But then again I sometimes discover perhaps I'm more accustomed to being part of a mar…

OK So I'm researching and curently restoreing the 2nd more "RAREER" version of a ANSA for the S30Z's. By Rareer I'm the only one I've ever seen and it's still NOS only cause of factory defects of messed up stickers and glue everywhere. In my research apperantly it seems ANSA only made 2 kinds for the 240Z, the Twin Stack Slash Cut Tip and a Side by Side style that was angled up at the chrome section with Slash tips aswell, making the edge of the chrome perpendicular to the vertical so to speak. Now heres where the Question begins, for the 260Z the same 2 ANSA's where made but with 2 inch diamter inlets as opposed to the 240Z with 1 and 7/8ths inlets. And ALSO a 3rd…

Hey there, I have a 81 280z turbo that is in desperate need of help. I have had the thing for several years now it for about half the time I have had it, its been not working. Just recently I had the engine and the turbo rebuilt and and I instaled them myself. Now the poor car will run but it has a really ruff idle and somtimes will die. Also when its being driven the RPMs will go up and down in a very random pattern just like when its idleing. If anyone has any clue as to what might be wrong with it I would be eternally greatfull.

I was wondering about historic (specifically model year plates) plates in Ohio, as far as I know they don't have a specific mileage restraint, but says "They are solely collector's items and are used for participation in club activities, exhibitions, tours, parades, etc. but NOT for general transportation" does that leave enough grey area to just cruise around, my car is by no means show quality (still a work in progress) and I was planning on driving it almost every weekend, but I define general transportation as going to get groceries and things of that nature How is it enforced do you get in trouble with johnny law if they see you too much? what is the penalty I don't…

Get my 72' 240Z back from the body shop on Friday! I went to visit the car at William’s Auto Body yesterday and it is almost completely assembled. All that’s left is to paint & mount the racing mirrors, rear spoiler, polish the paint and install the door windows. The color is Mercedes Brilliant Silver with a slightly darker silver rally stripe. William nailed it and “ghostâ€ is a good description of the stripe. It is very subtle, but visible in shade or diffuse light. When in direct sun, if there is any glare off the paint it is almost invisible. Just the effect I wanted to achieve. Hopefully the new paint won’t get dinged during the assembly proce…

I live in the Portland Or area and I am a member of NorthWest Z Car Club. Recently one of our members took there '71 240 to a Body Shop for a repaint. The Z was taken to the shop as a shell . The Shop did a super job on any and all problem areas, some sheet metal work was needed and they had to hand fabricate some hard to do parts and the work done is flawless, and the paint job is first rate. My Z suffered some minor damage to a fender , door ding, that went to the metal and gauged the paint. The same shop repaired my Z needing to repaint the front fender and door. I picked my Z up yesterday and am vary satisfied with the quality of workmanship . I just wanted t…

This is something I've wondered for quite a long time... When people upload photos of their cars to websites, why do they hide or obscure the license plate?
