Bought this car for $600 for parts thinking the body was hammered. It sat as a yard ornament while I worked on another project. Pulled it into the garage yesterday and started fiddling. First, went to drain the tank and found it was empty (just a few drips). Then the fuel pump wouldn't turn. A whack with a rubber mallet solved that. Then, it turned over, but the injectors weren't triggering. Opened up the 280-Z Fuel Injection book and went though every circuit (why not, save the frustration for later). Traced it down to the distributor trigger and went through that circuit. Not sure which wire was the issue, just cleaned them all. Then it started! I assume the…

Or what do you charge to restore a Z? Is it charged out by the hour or the job? I don't often pay others to do automotive jobs for me so I don't know what the going rate is and when I do a job for someone else I usually low ball it because I'm doing it for someone I know and feel weird asking for too much. Would like to hear your opinions. Thanks

I've had the urge to make, and at times been unable to avoid making, snarky comments to people who aren't wearing face coverings even though they are in close quarters. It feels right and wrong at the same time. People who are obviously well off and have to be educated. Only the young, pretty and vain people, worried about looking weird, or the older "don't give a crap" guys. Not sure that talking to the 70 year old people who don't give a crap will have any effect. Super-spreader! is a good one. It sounds like a funny comment. People laugh then realize... Are your parents dead? Kind of cuts, but it's true. Best used on older people without …

I can not live on a steady diet of doom and gloom so ... It's spring, warming up and I have noticed the air is much cleaner everywhere, even in downtown Toronto. I don't think I have seen a contrail in the sky this whole week, it's nice, quite. I have been deemed an essential service so the drive to and from T.O. has been so relaxing, it takes half the time to get where I'm going. Most of the other drivers on the road are well behaved, only a few A--holes and there is lots of room for them to zig zag . Anyone else noticing positive aspects of shelter in place?

Since I have plenty of time on my hands, I thought now is the time to add a bit of distinction to my 1970 Safari Gold 240Z. Most people add weber carbs or fender flairs. My idea is the landau top. Here is a photo of an install. Ignore the beltline molding for now, I would add the molding once I can find a manufacturer that offers one that can be screwed to the body (I do not want the stickon type). The manufacturer of the top offers one day shipping, so I will get it tomorrow and have the install completed by Saturday. I'm so excited! I'll post photos when I am done. Maybe a group buy can be arranged for other Z owners!! Keith

I was out driving the other day and found a car lot with all right hand drives. This was among them and I thought how cool would it be to show up at ZCon driving this beauty! No, I didn't buy it..

Here is a new thread to talk about guns. Some posts were made in a different thread making fun of people who were stockpiling ammo or buying new guns because of the COVID-19 virus. People have strong opinions about guns. So, here's a dedicated thread to talk about them. Here's where the other conversation ended.

In some of my previous posts I’ve mentioned the large group of parts I purchased a while back. I recently mentioned to @siteunseen that I would make a post about the origins of the “hoard” and here is the story. The Hoard In the fall of 2018 the president of our area Z club received an email about some 240Z parts for sale. Knowing that I had a hobby business refurbishing parts, the contact was passed to me. I contacted the person and gained a little insight to the situation and made arrangements for an inspection trip. A buddy - @zed2 and I drove up to Denison TX on the TX/OK border and met a man who owns his own railroad station. Not just any old wood fram…

Today marks 49 years of togetherness for the Z and me. A daily driver for 11 years, stored for another 17 years, disassembled and stored in pieces for 10 years, restored over a 2 1/2 year period, and now enjoying its second life for the last 9 years. Pic #2 was taken just before disassembly.

I came across this 8 1/2 X 11 mini-poster a few years ago. Of all the colors in the 240Z palette, Nissan certainly got it right in choosing this one. 920 Safari Gold rules!!! The poster refers to a 1998 service bulletin, that would suggest it was published as a follow-up to the Vintage Z program.

I'm looking for trailer-mounted cameras to observe traffic in the cabin. I ordered an enclosed trailer to take my ZCar on out of town shows and cruise-in's. It's 8.5 feet wide so I can drive buy car in and squeeze out without squeezing other personal body parts. Because of the width, I am looking for a camera (or cameras) to install on the back of the trailer that I can use on the highway when I'M CHANGING LANES. Okay, don't give me too much crap . . . I'm not a truck guy, I'm an SUV guy. So I have a 2020 SUV with a V8 engine capable of pulling what I need. The outside mirrors don't stick out like on a RAM truck. So I'm looking for rear trailer …
