Hello again. Just thought I'd fill you in on my new toy. I've been tuning our drag race truck (holley stealthram injected 355)http://www.stealthram.com/phpBB2/garage.php?mode=view_vehicle&CID=21 the hard way for a while now. Make a pass, change something, go over timeslip, read plugs, repeat.... Well a couple of weeks ago I bought the LM-1 wideband controller from Innovate Motorsports. http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/ This thing is great, not only can i see real time AFR readings but it also datalogs up to 5 channels and interfaces with the laptop to save and compare all of our passes. Anyway the point of this is we had a slow day in the shop last week and I p…

Hi Guys, Thought you might want to check this out. I got a call a couple of weeks ago from Motive Magazine. They are an on-line mag that is trying to compete with Car & Driver and Road and Track On-Line. Been around since August, so they are still really new. Anyway, they wanted to do a comparison article (they call them "Verticals"), on an original 240Z, versus a new 350Z. They came out on Sunday and did a photo shoot with the cars. It was a lot of fun. Here is a link to the article: http://www.motivemag.com/pub/feature/verticals/Motive_Vertical_-_240Z_and_350Z.shtml I can't take any credit for the content of the article. I just supplied the car. After 15 years of owning a bondo'd up rusted out maaco painted Z I finally get a good condition one with original paint and while cleaning it up this morning I discover that someone took their key and made a little 4" partial loop on the passengers door while walking by it. I've only had it a couple months, it's only been in a parking lot probably less than a half dozen time and probably on 2 or 3 since the last time it was cleaned. Always parked well away from other cars and never for long. Fortunately, they didn't put a lot of time or effort into it so it only goes all the way through the paint for about half of it but it still takes the fun out of owning something nic…

Hello fellow Classic Zers, yes that's right I'm sucking up. I recently located a 71 that is slightly damaged but according to reports roadworthy and not rotted out. I am now wondering if there is anyone in So Cal willing to take a look at the car to verifiy that is worth the time and effort of dragging it to Canada.

Hi guys and gal. Not sure if anyone recalls, but a few months ago I was rear ended. Well, after months and months of urging the other party to cooperate, I finally got my claim settled, and I'll have a replacement bumper very soon! To make a long story short, I had to be very persistent in hounding these people to fix my car. My own insurance wouldn't cover it (Amendments to my own coverage soon to follow). After threatening to sue the other party in red ink, they finally complied with the investigation. I recieved a check for the damages rather than taking it to their shop. That way I can by a used bumper from Sunrise Z, install it myself, and keep the rest of the…

Just happen to be watching the REDLINE show last night and they were covering a SPORCOM event (sport compact tuner car show) here in SoCal. As the camera was panning over the event cars I see a shot of Tod Kaneko's orange 240Z.....I was highly surprised to see one of our fellow Z car lover's car at the event. To top that off, a little later in the show they did a short feature on Tod's Z. The commentator mentioned that although it is a 70s vintage car, it is as spectaular as any of the current tunner cars. Very nice to see a 30+ year old car is still very exciting! Did anyone else see the show? Tom

Hey all, I just wanted to share a good experience I had with BlackDragon auto (formerly victoria british). I ordered a full engine gasket set, crank and oil seal, and engine mounts. When I was on the phone ordering, I asked about the crank/oil seals and she didnt mention they came with the gasket set when I asked and its not listed (although there is a picture of 2 circles in the ad). They shipped it USPS for me so I wouldnt get dinged by UPS for brokerage fees to Canada which was nice, and shipping was almost reasonable. When I opened the gasket set box, the head gasket package was taped to the box lid, so it was kinda bent. When I inspected it it was cracked at the t…

Tonight on BBC America here on Time-Warner Cable in NC the episode where Richard Hammond returns to Top Gear will be aired. If you'll remember he suffered an impressive wreck in a rocket-powered car about a year ago (sorry I don;t have the links--I'm at work), and made a remarkable recovery. I for one, am glad because I enjoy all his work on BBC. ...Set up your DVR, check your local listings for all those who are fans of the show! Steve
