I have decided to thin the herd a bit much to the encouragement of some Z friends. The first one has already been sold (my avatar car) and now it is time for the second '78 280Z to find a new home. Here is the ad on zcar.com: http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/index.php?method=showdetails&list=advertisement&rollid=35046&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&fromfromid=29& It has links to the updated pictures (69 new photos) at my yahoo photos page. I will be adding an ad here on classiczcars.com as well to help spread the word. If you miss out on this one I have another one ready to go as well. In any case some quick details: 1…

I'm a senior in high school this year and I have to do a project to graduate. I was going to buy some beater and do body work, but they said it has to be something new, and I already did the bodywork on my 240. So, I was looking at the possibility rebuilding a motor. How "easy" is it to rebuild and upgrade an L-series? Or do you guys have any other suggestions for a car-related project. Thanks, Ian.

This afternoon I came to the conclusion it was time to teach the boy to work on cars. I came to this decision because I recently realized those pesky elves were not getting my Z back together and if it was to be it was upto me to get everything else out of the way. That means when I have Daddy duty on a rainy day and the Garage beckons, we could spend a guilt free hour or so out there. To get to that point I have to make the garage less of a saftey issue, and Thomas more at home with what goes on out there. Today was "show Thomas what to do" day. I bought this car for him before he was born, and it has been in his room ever since. He has pushed and ridden it all over. …

Thought I'd see what everyone else carried with them. I keep mine in this very sturdy "army surplus" canvas bag. It holds alot and the canvas doesn't scratch or mark up the interior. I carry this many tools because it's both for emergencies and my junkyard raids. It fits nicely behind the passenger seat.

If you're like me you're often doing a "Datsun 240Z" or "Datsun 280Z", etc. search on eBay. I get kind of tired of the (watches, wall clocks, t-shirts, key chains, die-cast models, diamond cut headlights, etc.) and decided that instead of trying to filter out certain keywords that it would be best to just filter out certain sellers who put up the exact same stuff week after week. I really don't want any of that stuff. I've seen it already. Again and again and again. I thought it might be useful for us to collaborate on the best list of users to ignore. Unfortunately eBay limits you to 10 users. You simply go to the advanced search page and enter a comma-separated li…

The old I30 has just turned 135k and I'm noticing a clunk...clunk...clunk from what seems to be the right rear wheel. The sound is pronounced at low speed but at highway cruising, impossible to make out from the rest of the road noise. At slow speeds the sound can be eliminated by touching the brake pedal, but it returns immediately thereafter. The brakes were checked not long ago and had about 70% left. I'm thinking it could be a wheel bearing, but I'd like some support to that opinion before I decide to haul off and try a repair I've never made before. The sound speeds up or slows down based on the speed of the car.

These are popular in Europe, and are due to be sold here (U.S.) in 2008.
