Thought I'd see what everyone else carried with them. I keep mine in this very sturdy "army surplus" canvas bag. It holds alot and the canvas doesn't scratch or mark up the interior. I carry this many tools because it's both for emergencies and my junkyard raids. It fits nicely behind the passenger seat.

If you're like me you're often doing a "Datsun 240Z" or "Datsun 280Z", etc. search on eBay. I get kind of tired of the (watches, wall clocks, t-shirts, key chains, die-cast models, diamond cut headlights, etc.) and decided that instead of trying to filter out certain keywords that it would be best to just filter out certain sellers who put up the exact same stuff week after week. I really don't want any of that stuff. I've seen it already. Again and again and again. I thought it might be useful for us to collaborate on the best list of users to ignore. Unfortunately eBay limits you to 10 users. You simply go to the advanced search page and enter a comma-separated li…

The old I30 has just turned 135k and I'm noticing a clunk...clunk...clunk from what seems to be the right rear wheel. The sound is pronounced at low speed but at highway cruising, impossible to make out from the rest of the road noise. At slow speeds the sound can be eliminated by touching the brake pedal, but it returns immediately thereafter. The brakes were checked not long ago and had about 70% left. I'm thinking it could be a wheel bearing, but I'd like some support to that opinion before I decide to haul off and try a repair I've never made before. The sound speeds up or slows down based on the speed of the car.

Well, I went to go pick up my girlfriend last night and right when we got to the bottom of the hill from her house we stopped at the red light. We were there for 15 minutes because there was a firetruck keeping one light green. Therefore, all of the other drivers began treating this situation as a four way stop and would take turns going. It was my turn. Little green pick up truck didn't realize what was going on. Now my mom's car's rear driver quarter panel is pushed in and the rear driver door won't open. Its driveable, but that was her daily and if she has to buy a new car she can't go to grad school. The really bad part is that the cop blamed it on me because my ligh…

My car is no longer running. It's now just a big pile of pieces. Why? Cause the dreaded WIAT syndrome has struck hard. I reported last week that my brake booster went south, and started working on that. WIAT hits Last year I bought spray cans of color matched paint for the engine compartment, So If I'm going to take the booster off, "While I'm At It", I might as well disassemble the rest of the engine compartment for painting. "While I'm At It" - It's time to address the battery area rust "While I'm At It" - Might as well replace these brake lines' "While I'm At It" - this engine room harness needs some cleaning up Now my once beautiful car is spread out like a fish fill…

We went up to Leyburn over the weekend, which is in country Queensland. They hold this historic car race (sprints) each year and it's grown to become a pretty big thing. Basically a bunch of old cars driving around an old country town My pictures from the day: http://storm.elxx.net/alfadog/leyburnsprints/ My brother's pics (mostly the same): http://storm.elxx.net/alfadog/leyburnsprints/e/ I was surprised by the number of S30Z's in attendance. Good stuff!

Every time I hear the National Anthem sung on TV, it's totally screwed up!! I'm not talking about Jimmy Hendrix, who did it as part of his act, but more like at a big car race or some other televised event. :devious: You're supposed to stand up, take off your cap & face the flag out of RESPECT, but then they PAY somebody to totally mangle the singing! I wish I could get those singers arrested. Just ONE would do it! I've heard it sung better by 4th graders!! You'd think professional or trained singers would know how do sing a song like that with respect. Let's get those un-patriotic professional SCREW-UPS to sing it like it's supposed to be sung.:devious: :dev…
