If your wife gets mad at you for spending countless hours looking at the site linked below, it is NOT my fault. You just have no self control. Found this while looking for something else (we've all been there, and then SQUIRREL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) https://archive.petersen.org/pages/home.php All of the photos do have a "P" watermark on it, but some amazing pictures taken back in the day... For those who don't know or can't remember (like me), Petersen Publishing created the magazines of Hot Rod, Car Craft and the like... If you click on a photo, there is an option to request a copy. Not sure of what costs are involved with that, I confess. Enjoy

So the older I get the more of a crumudgeon I become. I need to rant about first world problems. So today I experience yet ANOTHER failure of a relatively new car part. Back in 2014 I bought a variety of distributors, including the 123 Dizzy for both the Z and the 510. We now know the issue with the crappy caps on those dizzy's that came up, that left me and others stranded. This is another dizzy failure story, for the 510. A friend with a roadster put me on to a guy in the US that was building EI distributors for various inline 4 Datsun engines including the Roadsters and as it turns out the L4 as well. It is a rebuilt body with in this case a Pertronix …

I'm working on some fuel rails I came by as part of a large used parts purchase, spent today bending and straightening the abuses of prior owners. One of the rails is different - it is at the front of the group pic. This design also matches the OE rail on my car. So... a question for the knowledge folks: was this design unique to early cars - those we refer to as Series 1? Next up: the dreaded and tedious cleaning process to get rid of years of grease, grime, rust, ...etc.

Just picked up a new flasher for the signals on the 280z and here is another one of these warnings, they seem to be everywhere. So how do I get cancer and reproductive harm from this little flasher? I think I would have to grind it up to a fine powder and snort it.

I know many older more rare cars have very limited availability for parts. When they have a bad master cylinder, caliper or wheel cylinder there is no replacement available. So there are specialty restorers who can sleeve these with SS sleeves. Then new rubber seals and you're good to good for a very long time. I have a number of master cylinders that could be refurb'ed. Does anyone know of a source for small diameter SS sleeves?

My daughter has an assignment and she is struggling to get going at it the right way. Maybe one of you whiz kids could help "Basically, I am trying to figure out what the Equations of Motion (EOM) for the system are. It is complicated by the fact that we have a moving cart and a massless pendulum. " Inverted pendulum is a classic problem in control engineering, as its unstable nature poses a significant challenge to the design and implementation of its controller. The typical configuration of an inverted pendulum system is shown in the figure below. The moving cart that supports the inverted pendulum is powered by an electric motor through a pulley-belt …
