A little off z topic, but a car question. I just bought a 2006 Toyota Tundra. The dealer suggested an option of a clearcoat seal to protect the paint. They say the truck will never need to be waxed and the paintjob will never fade. They also treat the underside of the vehicle for protection and road noise reduction. It aint cheap, around $600. Is it worth it?

A night early, but was afraid you'd be too drunk tomorrow to log in! LOL But seriously you're a good pal. All the best on your day. BTW, do you have to share it with Jeannie since it is also Valentines Day? Bummer dude!

Hey All, Surfing around on eBay and found this auction. Very sad. Wish I had money and a larger storage facility. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971-1973-1974-datsun-240z-260z_W0QQitemZ8038092304QQcategoryZ6783QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Chris

I have been interested in this topic of date coding the Z car ever since 'kats' began a thread a while ago covering this topic with regard to the early S30's. Since I am plagued by multigenerational Z car disease/ownership I have attempted to date code some of the later model Z cars. Nissan has made the job a bit more simple since 1984 with the advent of Nissan Service Comm which is a database that is accessible by any Nissan parts counter or service counter employee. After inputting a VIN# a printout can be had which will give you the exact date of manufacture (i.e. 01/23/86 in the case of my '86 300ZX), the retail selling date, the pre-delivery inspection date(PDI), th…

So it starts off as a nice sunny day. I decide to take the Z for a spin. Let it warm up and off I go. I get around a mile from home and WHAM! The engine shuts off. I have that feeling like something just broke. Turn her over and there is no compression.:dead: I get her home and start looking, pull the valve cover and the camshaft sprocket had come loose :stupid: I can only blame myself. I remove the rockers to see if there is any valve damage. Well so far five of the intake valves are bent. I haven't even gotten to the exhaust. Aaargggg!!! I am not happy.

I was looking at the Jan 30th AutoWeek today. There's an article about some big name business people, not just automoblie business. A couple of them name the 240Z as their idea of a car design icon. It's on page 17.
