Brake upgrade 1 2

Hi gang- I prepairing to do the toyota caliper brake upgrade on my Z. I have a couple techinical questions about this upgrade. 1. Did anyone go with the 300zx rotor upgrade and what problems did you encounter?? I've read that doing the larger rotor requires having a spacer made to accomodate the caliper and keep caliper-to-wheel interference at bay. Will this change the offset on wheel selections down the road? 2. If the only upgrade was the caliper (no rotor change) did you need a spacer or did you simply rework the back plate and the 'S' shaped brake line. Did anyone get rid of the backing plate? 3. I've been reading about an air duct system that directs a…

Yesterday I had to take a trip down town for work. While driving down I55 in Jackson, MS I noticed a 240SX coming up on me pretty fast. They pulled up beside me and were asking me about my 240Z. Then they pulled out a camera and asked if they could take some pictures of my Z. So here we are going 75 down the interstate while they shot some pictures of my Z. That was a first for me I get plenty of people asking about the car when I go places but never had anyone take pictures of it while driving down the road. I just thought I would share my story with you all.

Ok guys, I said I'd tell you about this gun...don't buy one. For reference, here's a link to what they look like: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4381429703&category=46413 They work by have 2 forks at the tip complete a circuit, so they have to be in complete contact to turn the heat on....very very frustrating....I was going to use it, or at least try to use it, for soldering my gas tank sending unit wires to the sending unit....just doesn't work.... I didn't buy one, my dad had one laying around, and I just took the plastic wrap off of it, tried it, and told my dad to toss it after about ten minutes of use. Back to the 400w Craftsman gun I bo…

Hi When I was in college studying Tool and Die and CAD-CAM , a freind and I designed and built a complete 1:2.5 scale V-twin based on various Harley pushrod engines for our final project. This thing was a beauty, we cut all the gears and cam lobes on a wire EDM and the heads where first turned on a 3 axis lathe and then machined on a four axis Mill, can you say tricky. We had a "constructive" argument about the cam ratation relative to the crank rotation. He claimed that the cam always had to turn in the same direction as the crank, but didn't know why. My argument was that the cam didn't have to turn in the same direction as the crank, as long as the engine was d…

Wasn't there a collection of Z-related content taken from the web, centralized in one place, that was something absurd like five gigabytes? I'm looking for a link, just starting to build my knowledgebase on my new harddrive. I've searched here and hybridZ and can't seem to find the link. anyone have it or know what i'm referring to? thanks.

The other day at the grocery store I saw a car that looked a LOT like a 240Z. I was driving by and didn't find any clear emblems but on the back it had O P E and then another letter missing at the end. The shape was very similar to an early Z (I don't remember the headlights) but the back instead of being curved out it was kind flattened or curved in, and maybe a different color. ANy ideas?

This just hit the roadster email list and I thought I'd share. http://www.rockyauto.co.jp/ Yummy! The roadster crowd was remarking on how highly valued the 63 SP310 1500 roadster was - 4 million yen How'd ya like a nice C10 GTR replica powered by an RB25? - 4 million and it's yours! Lots of G-Noses for ya all and plenty of Skylines. I alway wanted to stop into Rose Auto, but now it's Rocky Auto for me!

This car was dropped off at Datsun Dynamics about 2.5 years ago by the original owner. She stated that she bought it while finishing college. In any case she wanted to find out how much it would cost to rehabilitate the car (I am not sure of her intentions so I wouldn't say restore). I first remember seeing the car in February of 2003 upon one of our regular visits out to Datsun Dynamics. Unfortunately, the owner suffered a divorce and the car still remained throughout the summer of 2004. Last fall I was told that the husband was going to take the car and have it 'restored' at another shop. As it turns out I was in Florida when the call came and I recieved both good and…
