just read this on another forum i am on: Subject: Credit Card Scam > > > VISA & MASTERCARD Telephone Credit Card This information is worth reading. By understanding how the VISA & Mastercard Telephone Credit Card Scam works, you'll be better prepared to protect yourself. Thanks to Dr. Pat Cloney for passing this on. Those con artists get more creative every day. My husband was called on Wednesday from "VISA", and I was called on Thursday from "MasterCard". The scam works like this: Person calling says, "this is <name>, and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My Badge number is 12460. Your card has been flagged for an un…

My friend backed into my Z yesterday Well, my friend felt really bad, is a gentelman, and took responsibility and filed a claim with his insurance, Gieco (sp?) It damaged the left fender and door. I'm afraid that I'm going to have trouble with his insurance company. Things like "we're going to total it and give you $1,000 because it's just an old Datsun", "you have to take it to our bodyshop and it's not our fault the paint doesn't match", etc. I know insurance companies can be jerks. The Z is (before the accident) in good shape. No rust or body damage. I have some of the interior trim out of the car because the previous owner took it out to trouble shoot a ele…

Hi Folks, Long time reader, occasional poster here. I have a Z move upon me and thought I'd ask for you opinions. I wish I could say this is a long, planned out organized move but ... The situation is moving the family complete with 3 - Z's and 2 other vehicles from NW Houston to Corvallis Oregon. In Corvallis I'm hunting for a home to rent, Z storage, Z friends, and any info that may help. In Houston, I have a few parts and tool issues perhaps even a car to part with (72 240). Anyone know where I can dispose of 25 gallons of Varsol from my parts cleaning tank? Or anyone interested a parts cleaning tank? Time frame is out of Houston by 12/30. I'm here in Corv…

Well today I am driving home my new Z (see http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?p=111658#post111658 ) car I have not had a running one in 8 or 9 years give or take. While looking for this one I was thinking about taking out the sound proofing to save weight and doing a v8 conversion etc. Driving the car home that already had the sound proofing taken out and some other things to make it louder etc plus a wheel barring about to die driving 55 or 60 becouse of the low gears I started thinking differently... I need to add really good sound proofing.... I dont need a V8 this L28 with triple webbers is fine since I am not going to be street racing like when I was 1…

I'm a new member and thought I might give you a little history of my Z car ownership. I have a 1972 (HLS30 93606) which my wife and I purchased new. It was our first new car. It is 110 red with white interior, I had some rust repaired in the rear quarters in 1975 and decided to park it in 1976 for future restoration. I purchased all parts I felt I might need in the future and have had the car and the parts stored since. My youngest son (16) and I plan to start the total restoration this winter. After autocrossing the 1972 for a couple of seasons I decided to go club racing and in 1976 purchased the 1970 (HLS30 00029) from Jim Cambel in New Mexico. It was race prepair…

Given the recent uproar and whining about 'off-topic' pictures, I figured I would check what kind of interest, if any, there is for more pictures of this red Toyota 2000GT a museum I just visited had.

Anyone seen the little write-up in "AutoWeek" in the market section on page 23, Dec. 13th edition? It's about a '72 240Z that was sold for auction in Portland, OR. The car sold for $1,098. The picture and article makes the car sound not too bad... original and nice interior, grimy but very original under the hood. It also says that there are rock chips and rust bubbles in fender wells, and some rust underneath. The writer says "Overall, at one time a pretty decent survivor that's been allowed to deteriorate" Then it goes in to tell some nice things about 240Z's in general. What I found strange is that the guy goes on to call this car a "pig" that would cost $25,000…
