I placed an order with VB back in July for my 81ZX to 74 260 project. Well, it's really turned out to be a nightmare. The pistons were for .40 over, but one in the set weighed 70 grams more than the others. Called them up, and they sent me out 1 to replace it via UPS ground. Get it in, and that one too is 70 grams heavier than the others. Now I have to call them again, and they send another one after some checking to make sure it is right, again ups ground. So I've wasted plenty of good time here already. Well, fast forward and the block has been bored, pins pressed in, and it's time to start assembling the block. I go to put the plugs in, and there's 6 plugs tota…

I went to this BSA. meeting the other night. This new family is there so i went to introduce myself. The husband haddnt gotten their yet. Me and his wife got to talking about cars, And she says her husband just bought a old Porsche 911. I thought sweet somebody in this troop has a car worth driving! But not the case here. I walked up to him and we started talking about his car and my dad walks up, he mentions my z. The guy stopped talking to me right then! Geesh i think peaple dont like Datsuns for some reason. His car was a bondo bucket to boot! Tail lights didnt work, and it was beet to heck.

Just found my trusty tin-opener and found a can of worms ! So, I believe it's pretty much accepted that the 240Z WASN'T made for the US market but once it was recognised as a go-er, Nissan shipped 'em over to the detriment of other markets ! I just bought a (what you guys would call) a standard 280ZX 2 seater, without power steering and windows for my wife and this is definitely what I would call, a car made for the US ! It's got the looks, the ummph and the comfort ! Anyone want to doubt that ? They obviously got it right 'cos it sold nearly three times as many as the 240 !

It doesn't seem like there's going to be an Ohlone Fremont Z event this year, not listed in ZONC.org's calendar anyway. I heard there were too many 350Z's and not many old school Z's last year so organizers were bummed. Should we try to persuade them to host one? Lower the entry fee too so some of us with Z beaters or rust buckets can park together to show old school support!!! -Guycali

Hello everyone. Classic Motorsport magazine just bought a 1970 240Z as their new project car. This is a great magazine, and with the addition of the 240Z project, each issue will be exciting. Enjoy, Rick.

Occasionally I will go to an auction if nothing much is going on. I went to a farm auction today because one of the items listed was a 2 door Datsun. No model listed. It ended up being a 77 280Z with no motor or trans. I do not have room for it or time for a project so I stuck around to see what it went for. No one bid on it starting at 50 dollars so he kept coming down until a guy with no front teeth raised his hand at 5 dollars. He probably will make it into some farm implement I can imagine. It had no rust on fenders, quarters, doors, rockers. Just rusty underneath. Too bad it was not a low serial number 240 I would have bought it. You never know.

As some of you may, but most probably don't know, I have been in Japan for the last week and will be staying here until December on business. Some of the locals were taking me around Hamamatsu city on the weekend when we got a bit off course and a Z caught my eye. I asked them to turn around and go by slowly and sure enough, there was a whole car yard full of Z's and early 70's skylines. All looked in great shape and seemed quite well priced (~480000Yen). Unfortunetly it was dark and raining so i didnt get out and worse yet, i didn't have my camera on me. If only such dealerships existed back home.
