After seven months for a daily driver restoration I got to take the first drive.(pics in gallery) It was as great as I last remembered in my old Z. My 30 mph paint job even turned a few heads on the way to gas up! My wife gave me the o.k. to get another if I want .I would like to start one without as much hidden damage next time. But I could not have done it without the help of alot of the people on this site who took the time to answer questions so I could keep going. Thanks Jim.

Guys, As most of you are aware, the handbrake on the S30 is on the right side of the centre console. This is generally seen as a sign that the S30 was designed first and foremost as a RHD car for the Japanese market - not that the LHD car was an afterthought, just that it wasn't designed specifically for the US market as some would like to think. Anyway, that's been discussed many times and not the point of this post! My point is a picture I recently came across which I find interesting. This is a Pontiac Trans Am. I don't think they sold in any country other than America... so why is the handbrake on the right side? Some other cars: Gen 1 & 2 Mazda RX7 - LEFT …

Victor Laury stopped by my house Sunday to deliver a case of Pacifico beer in trade for my 1970 4 speed tranny. He shows up in his Z and the first thing I notice are his new wheels. They look great Victor!!! We had some good conversation and of course alot of Z stuff was talked about, especially how great this site is and how we have some incredibly informed people here. Anyway, Victor asked if there were some good roads to play on while he headed home to LA.....I of course provide him with some input. So, about 20 minutes after he left my house, I get a call from Victor and he's all excited about the route I mentioned. He then tells me about a 10mph lefthand corner he en…

Someone told me putting a small block chevy in a good 240z drops it's value as a collectable. I wonder if that will be true. I argued that there will be people out there looking for them(V8 Zs) in the future any how, and some one would probably pay a good price for a good example. i think in the long run the I-6 will be worth more.

Since I have never dealt with a 4-barrel conversion I can't say that I am for or against them. However, the inline 6 in my ford pu has a very similar set-up, one downdraft carb feeding all the cylinders through an intake manifold. I never have any problems with my #1 or #6 plugs. Why is it a problem with the z's? Dan

After driving around my freshly registered 240 for a week, then putting it off the road for a few days to replace the uni's in the half shafts, then hitting the road again for a few days, I finally got around to tuning the carbs tonight. It was running a bit rich, and you could feel the push, but it wouldn't want to rev past 6000rpm. It was missing the scream from the exhaust that I remember from a few years back. I hit up the tech article section to refresh my memory on the way it is done, then set out to make her really run well. After a few solid minutes tinkering, I shut the bonnet and hit the street. I did a nice slow crise around the block, just to get everything…

:stupid: :stupid: :stupid: Had an interesting conversation yesterday with the body trimmer that has recovered my ZED'S seats. He advised me NOT to use silicon based spray on vinyl protection. Said that it was great stuff to begin with but, after quite a few years, (particularly if it's parked in the sun a lot), it MIGHT actually CAUSE vinyl to crack as the hot sun's rays passing through the windscreen can heat the silicon film, causing the vinyl to bake and eventually crack. I didn't know whether to believe him or not. Has anyone else heard about this?????????? Rick.
