Hi all... bought this 78 over the weekend .. was told it was making a whining noise but I never did hear anything .. it's been a long time since I drove a z .. 20 years or so ... it's pretty much rust free ,, not a fan of the chrome/stainless steel trim that someone put on the car but for the most part it's in OK shape ,,, the steering seems a little flat ...ball joints may need replacing... bringing my baby home this Sunday ... thanks for previous advice.... Kevin

Well, you might have noticed that I've been looking around for another Z that I could use as a daily driver for the couple years it is likely to take me to get #215 back on the road. I even considered buying a ZX a couple times. But persistence paid off in the end, although it isn't a 240. I found a '78 280Z in Cincinnati that was beautiful! California car that was transplanted to the midwest 10 years ago, but only driven 2000 miles since then, and supposedly never in the snow, and always garaged. Looks like it too. I can't say it has no rust, but from the Z's I have owned and every one I've looked at back here, it might as well have none. No rust through anywhere …

I was given a perfect '70 521 over the weekend. It was stored since '81 in a factory building. I was looking it over to replace 1600 motor with my extra 280 motor but that pesky firewall and tiny tranny bump would be quite an obstacle to overcome. My 6 year old asked "Dad, can I have a V8?". Then it hit me, I said "I think it could work but what set-up would we use?" after a puzzled look he reminded me that the juice was in the house. Anyway do any of you "Z"experts have any suggestions on how's, why's, or am I just dreaming.

New here, so don't know if I have the right forum topic but anyways... I am looking to buy either a 240z or 280z in Los Angeles area. Does this website or do members of Classic Zcar Club know of a checklist for people when they buy a z car? Specifically, I want to spot the classic problems I might encounter in purchasing a 240 or 280z. I know that rust can be a problem - so look under car in wheel wells, bottom of doors, below carpert in trunk, under hood, etc. However, has any member or does any member know where I can find a Z Buyers Checklist? Please post an answer here or send me a private message Thanks. Sam in LA looking for a good 240 or 280 z.

Ok I am finely going to ask this question at the risk of upsetting some of you fellow Z lovers. Does anyone find that the all-in-one light switch a bit odd looking? I remember when I saw my first Z in 1972 I thought what the heck is that dorky looking thing. . . it looks like a potato on a stick! To me it seams like Datsun got a deal on someone’s screw up. . “Mr. K I have an uncle that can make you a good deal on European style light switch, . . . you will go for it! Great, here let me buy you another beerâ€ Now I know that this was the very beginning of the “Europeanâ€ stalk controls in the USA so maybe this was normal for that time period. (can any of our Eur…
