Now that I have your attention, who would be interested by a French tour, behind the wheel of a nice condition Z or ZX? I am asking all our American, or Australian fellows Z lovers. I was thinking in setting up such a tour, you see I just love my country, and our Z and I enjoy sharing its beauty and treasure. I was thinking of theme tour, like all the French famous racetracks and famous Rallying roads… One week memories for a lifetime!

My boss's wife has a 1977 Datsun 280Z in fairly good condition. She asked me to help her find a professional 280Z restorer in the New York City/Westchester County metropolitan area. Anybody got a clue? Thanks. John

I had someone ask me earlier if the 280Z was offered in a turbo model with carbs. I was not sure. Is this a setup it came in? If not is there this setup running around? SuDZ

I have an option 1 box in my 240 which I am pretty sure has the Porsche type sychros in it. The synchros are stuffed and I have the option to replace with new Porsche synchros, or to butcher a 280 box (with the Warner synchros in it) to use parts from that to make a "better" box, i.e. with the option 1 ratios but with the better, Warner type synchros. My questions are, will the option 1+280 box be better than the standard option 1 box?? Will that difference be significant? I want to modify my motor soon to produce a bit more power, so will the "frankenstein" box be stronger??? Apparently all the race guys use this " option 1 + 280 box" setup, is this right??? HELP!!!!

Just like some feedback on the build up below. Note I've built an L6 before, (converted L24 to L26 specs, cammed, high comp, usual mods etc), and also had a 260Z with high comp L28, 240 carbs, Holinger 5 speed etc etc. Both engines were very powerful, and responded differently to varying situations. I liked the revving of the L24/26 over the 2.8. What I'm going down the route of now is re-building an L24 with pretty much the same formula as the two previous builds and that is:- L24 crank/rods (std) L24 bore (std) Head shaved .060" E88 42mm inlet & 33mm exhaust valves (std) Elec distributor & coil to suit Ex-turbo L28 oil pump 240Z Su's Camshaft ? to be determined …

What to do... 1 2

I have the chance to buy a 240z here in New Zealand which is finally within my budget. Yay! The thing is, the man who has it now, compleatly dismanteled the entire car to a state in which it is a chassis sitting on the ground of his garage with no glass, doors bonnet on it at all. He has every bit for it, and all the bolts and stuff and in numbered bags with the number assignment typed up on the computer. What I need to know, is how hard would it be to put this car back together, its in pretty good nick, and so if it's not too hard, i'd like to give it a go. Needs new shocks and brake bits, but apart from that, it's all good. I am no a mechanic nor do I have all that much…

Guys, Sorry no photo unfortunately, but I've seen this "mount" that fits on the oil filter mounting point on the block and then the oil filter mounts onto it. With this "mount" on, rather than the filter connecting to the block directly and protruding sideways 90deg, the oil filter mounts downwards on an angle. Sorry if the description is a little fuzzy, obviously someone's seen these, I've seen them on a couple of 280ZX's and thought I'd ask what they are? What purpose do they serve? Part number/description? Cheers.

I have an early 1970 240Z , serial number 2199. An ideal car for someone interested in restoring a classic early model Z. Body is good, needs paint and new upholstery, engine needs some work. Lots of spare parts. Last licensed in 1991. i'm interested in finding someone who would appreciate the car for what it is. I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me on finding a good new owner.
