Z production dates 1 2

I am trying to ascertain when my Z was manufactured. It was first registered in Australia in Oct 71 but has a chassis no of HS30 01224 which would indicate it was built well before this date as Datsun first produced the 240Z in Oct 69. Does anyone know what 240 Z chassis no's were built in 69. 70. 71?

To check on a Z I'm interested in?? Unfortunatly the seller does not have any photos to send me (one of those older guys that's not really pressing to sell the car), and I'd appreciate it if anyone in the are could really check it out. I would prefer a responsible individual who's not simply looking for a joyride to thrash around on a saturday morning . Fell free to PM me..... Many thanks in advance! -P R.I.P Johnny

I'm working at taking the engine and trans out of a 280zx, my question is can you pull them out together or do you have to pull the trans first? I'd love to pull them out in one piece and not have to lie on my back working any more than I have to But I'm afraid that the shifter will get in the way, will it work or any tips?? I'd like to have it ready to pull first thing in the morning if I can, want to get this job done and this car out of the shop and the 240 back in before any rain comes...

I have an 81 280ZX turbo that has been sitting for 3 years since it quit running. The car ran great until it suddenly would not start one day. The engine turns over but I have no spark. I believe that the problem is electrical, possibly the crank position sensor, but I don't want to spend $300 and that not be the problem. I have the factory service manual for the car, but it tells me I need a ECCS analyzer to chase these problems, but my local Nissan dealer doesn't even have this machine. It has been sitting long enough and something needs to be done.

AFTER 18 MONTHS OF RESTO WORK I FINALLY PUT THE MOTOR IN THE CAR TODAY. I BOLTED UP THE ALUMINUM FLYWHEEL, INSTALLED THE NISMO CLUTCH AND THEN CONECTED THE 5 SPEED AND INSTALLED INTO MY 70 Z. AFTER BOLTING EVERYTHING DOWN, I NOTICED THAT THE TRANNY WAS SHIFTED TO FAR LEFT (IF YOU WERE SITTING IN THE CAR) AND THE SHIFTER WONT CLEAR THE OPENING IN THE TUNNEL. I AM USING THE STOCK TRANNY MOUNT WITH A 5 SPEED I THINK IS FROM A 78 280Z. IF THE HOLES ON THE MOTOR MOUNTS LINE UP, AND THE HOLES ON THE TRANSMISSION MOUNT LINE UP, WHY WOULD THE TRANNY BE SITTING WRONG. ANY CLUES. Hi Guys, This is a general question to the forum. Is there a way to measure an E-31 head to determine if it has been shaved below tolerances while still installed on the engine, or, must it be pulled to get an accurate measurement? Thanks for your input. Dan

I am looking into getting a MIG welder. I want to be able to work on my Z with it, but also fabricate other things like go karts, stands, trailers, etc... I am looking at a MILLERMATIC 175. Does anyone have any experience with this unit? I've heard it is a good quality product. Another question I have it about the voltage. I am going to need to get a 220V outlet in my garage. Anyone know if this is something I could do - or should I hire an electrician (how much should it cost?)? oh yeah... I have never welded before:stupid: - I have a friend who is working for a welding certificate who can help, but otherwise I am just going to teach myself and read books... and practic…
