I am putting a set of ZG style flares on my 240z and I want it to look "period correct" so I need an original paint code. If anyone has this information please help me out. My body shop needs this info ASAP! In pictures the flares look like they are very similar in color to the tail light pannel, but the tail light pannel is not very glossy... it is hard to tell if the flares are supposed to be glossy. Just rejoined the club. The first car I owned was a 72 240Z, and I miss it dearly. Now that I am fully in the throes of mid life crisis, and just having seen a partly restored Z in my own home town, I decided it was time to start checking this site out again. Who knows, maybe I will get myself back into another one someday! It's time to start looking. -Mikey

What are the odds that the door key from my "new" 81 zx parts car would fit the ignition of my 73 240??? Ha it does! I couldn't believe it, they sure looked the same but the 73 key is darn near flat on both sides anymore but I gave it a try, works in the ignition and all the doors and hatch! And this is a good thing because?? I only have one key for the 73 and any copy I've had made from it doesn't work!!! It must have been meant to be that I buy the 81 for a parts car! Even though it's turned into my DD cause I feel bad thinking about tearing up a car that runs so go and looks pretty ok from 20' away.... for a ZX that is... even if it is a lead sled that has a suspensi…

Just thought some of you guys might be interested in these few things, being I'm not the one selling them, I didn't think it was appropriate for me to put them in "For Sale" as I wouldn't be able to answer lots of questions in regards to them etc. They're on an NZ Auction website. ive been visiting this forum for a while now, mostly just reading and trying to absorb as much info as i can about the z car. now my time has come, there's a 1979 280zx for sale in my area for $800 which is my price range (although i would much rather have a 1970 240z, but i gotta settle for what i can get). im planning on going there with a friends dad who knows way more than me about cars (and drives stick) to help me out, i was wondering if anyone can give me a kind of checklist of specific things to look for? any info would be nice at all. thanks.

I purchased an electronic distributor for my 72 240Z from a zcar salvage yard in california. I received a distributor with an Ign module of E12-93 marking, a separate distributor mounting piece, a 12 volt coil and mount. When I talked to the person over the phone, I explicity requested a distributor from a 79 280ZX with an Ign module marked E12-80 or older. The distributor did not come with a cap. I assume that since the module is marked E12-93, that the part is off of 1993 300ZX. Will this work, or did I get taken? Also, the Ign module has terminals marked C/B and two marked I/W. As I understood it, the C/B terminals are the terminals for the coil. What would I do with t…

I found this cable in my car and wonder what it is. The cable goes over the top of the passenger wheel arch and down into the dog leg. That end is just the cut end of the cable, but finished so that it won't fray. The eye loop is woven ito the cable. Was this used to pull the wiring harness over the wheel arch? Anyone seen one of these?
