I received the following from another member of the Society of The 173rd Airborne Brigade and thought I'd pass it on to you all. Rick. IT IS A GOOD FEELING TO KNOW THAT SOME PEOPLE TRUELY APPRECIATE THE "VETERAN". Hello everyone, I am trying to clarify how the 240 bumpers mount on a 280. I know it can be done but I am trying to make sure I buy the correct pieces before I buy them. I know noone personally with a 240 so I cannot see for myself. I think the 240 has a recessed area in the quarter panel where the bumper meets but my 280 does not have this area. How will the bumper fit? The front seems to be fairly straight forward but the rear has me hesitant to try it. Is there a difference in the 240 bumpers from year to year? I have searched the forum for any swap info but noone has ever addressed the issue of the recessed area or any specific instructions on how the install goes. I…

Just another post about a user's Z finally hitting the road again. Took a while to get started and warmed up but it runs. Definitely needs a muffler, it sounds like a biplane. I took it for a spin around the block and the T5 swap seems to have no problems. Just curious, what's wrong with the timing when a flame comes out of one of the carbs when I rev the motor? I'll post a video of the car running around in a day or two! YAHOOOO! I have a car again!!!!!! :stupid:

I had bought an N42 head from a guy and just received it last night. It has been rebuilt and then stored without having been used so it truely is a fresh rebuild. However, there was no cam sproket or valve cover and there is some rust in a few places. Please see the pix in my my gallery, there is one where I have pix from all angles in one photo and have circled some of the rust locations in red. I don't understand how the gallery system works, the head pix are scattered throughout my gallery and not in the order I uploaded them either. In short, there is a little on the cam, on the rod that runs parallel to the cam, the manifold bolts, in the little passages on t…

Hi Fellas, I am going to fit flat top pistons in my L28, and in order to cater for the new parts and added compression, I'll be honing the cylinders and fitting new rings. All other components within the motor are good, checked bearings for signs of scoring, wear etc and there is minimal if any wear at all. It's an N42, any other recommendations you guys think could be done, or alternatively, be good to hear feedback from experience. Cheers :classic:

I just put new upolstry on my Z's seats and thought I should replace the insulation on the floors and firewall while the seats were out. (actually, 'replace' may be the wrong word, as I was amazed at how much was just not there!!) I've been thinking about doing this for awhile and was looking at the stuff offered at MSA and Victoria British. Then I had an idea to try something different....and cheaper. I went down to Home Depot and bought a 10' roll of water heater insulation and foil tape. (about $30 Canadian at the end of the day!) The insulation is silver foil on both sides and 'bubble' in the middle. It was remarkably easy to work with. Took me about an hour to …
