Hi folks, I just joined this forum after buying a "pig in a sack" 1970 240Z. I has 89K on it and has been garaged without starting it for 15 years. I'm excited, just don't quite know what I have yet. 1. What is the best way to find out what about what options were originally available on this car? 2. Any ideas on things to watch for as I try to bring it back to life. If the carbs are gummed up, who rebuilds them? 3. I am in Atlanta, any really good leads on a high quality paint job, one that will add value, not subtract? 4. THis car is in great shape, and stock as far as I know. I wish it had air conditioning. would adding AC to this car hurt it's value as ori…

My steering rack seems to have tightened up. I haven't come in contact with anything, but the steering has gotten very heavy. I recall the thread about the missing clamp, and will check that this evening. Is there anything else I can try without disassembling the front end?

:stupid: :stupid: :stupid: A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that "Precious" had developed a noise that I couldn't locate. Well, I found the problem. The screw that secures the base of the radio antennae had loosened and fallen out, allowing the base to move and contact the bodywork whenever the car hit a bump. A couple of minutes with a drill and fitting a small nut and bolt and, HEY PRESTO !!!!!!! NO MORE NOISE,. Thanks to those who suggested possible causes. Rick.

Well removing the axle spindles from the rear hubs was a pain in the arse but I got the nut off and the spindles slid out. Now working that I&@^$#!& nut off ruined the first threads on the spindle and I'm going to try and get a die to fix them. I'm guessing it's a 19mm x 1.5? Please help....sanity slipping.....so close to the end......must....finish.....Z......

Just wondering what some of you consider your favorite part of the club site? I really like the random Zcars page. Every time I want a short burst of random Z's from our gallery, I just open that page and hit refresh every time I want more.

Right now I'm trying to finish the interior of my Z. However, the center heater control panel has unsightly paint flakes and obvoius wear. I need to remove it to either replace it, or paint it. I removed the four screws on the corners and the map light, but it still won't come out. It feels like there are some steel lines going back from the vent controls. What do I need to do to get the panel out?

I drove my Z to work today and man was it running like crap! It was sputtering and backfiring (from the exhaust) on acceleration like crazy, not even hard acceleration just average. If I pull the choke up then it drove better...killed any power I have though and made passing tougher. However, I would have to push the choke all the way down when I came to a stop otherwise the car would stall. I drove it a 1 1/2 weeks ago and it was running fairly well all things considered. Now today the temp was 5-10 degrees less and the humidity was higher as it has been raining here on and off for the past several days. I did have it running on the 4th showing it to a few friends …

Tried to start up my 240Z, gave it plenty of choke as usual - and the choke lever seemed to go loose, and something seeemd to break. Took off the centre console - can't find whether the choke lever/cable just sits loose normally under the console or attaches to something on the body. My Haynes manual doesn't have a diagram - anyone out there have a diagram showing what I should see? Thanks ...
