I got to thinking about some of the threads we've had recently, regarding who we are, where we come from etc. and I thought perhaps we could share with each other an insight into the women in our lives. Let's face it, even though, (as the saying goes), "we can't live with 'em and we can't live without 'em", we'd be lost without them so, to get the ball rolling, let me introduce my wife, Barb. Anyone who saw the movie "The man from Snowy River" would have marvelled at the riding skills of the horsemen. I've seen Barb, standing in the stirrups, leaning forward almost parralell to the horses neck, leaping fallen trees, ducking under branches and yelling herself hoarse, (no p…

Have just received my Datsun original FSM for 75/76 280. On page GI-3 it lists color codes/upholstery colors for that model year. My 75 - 280 Vin HLS30 221,584 has paint code 303 on its orginal name plate near the radiator. The FSM lists paint code 302 as leaf Green Metallic, but no 303 is listed. The car is green metallic. I'll attach a picture ( if I can , 1st time ). Is this Leaf Green Metallic??? Z-On ...

i, I have goten almost all of the old parking brake cable off my 73' 240z and i finally got the propellershaft off too.. The part where i am stuck is the connectors that hold the parking brake cable to the car. there are 4 of them. 2 are next to both rear drums then theres 2 more up inside the tunnel area where the cable gets latched on by the y piece connector. I got the first 2 off next to the wheels but I can get the last 2 inside the tunnel. How do you do it? Is there a special way or tool that you have to use? I got the first 2 out with a screwdriver and a hammer. I cant use that up inside the tunnel.. any ideas would greatly help... I have a week to get this car o…

I am looking at a 240 here in town and it seems like a good deal to me, but I do not know a whole lot about the old Z cars. It is a 1973, original engine, has been rebuilt at least twice. It has the 280 head, aftermarket carbs. I'm not sure of everything it has. He also has lots of parts to throw in, one being an electric fuel pump from an RX-7. The body has some minor damage, the worst is the front right fender for which he has a replacement (more on that later). It has the typical rust. Some minor spots on every panel, worst is the rocker panels. The engine was just rebuilt, he's drove it up and down the street to see that it runs (has about 5 miles on it). The interior…

Does anyone have any expieriance with any electronic rust prevention systems. I've seen them on television shows and advertised on the internet and I was wondering if it really works or is it one of those things to good to be true. After putting new floorboards in my car and repainting it I just don't want to do it again. Thanks for any feedback! Mark

Well the list of things to do to get my Z back on the road again is starting to get very short. However now I really have to focus on getting the T5 setup to work in my car. I wanted to bring some ideas to this board for some opinions. I have two big problems at this point. First, the differential flange that I believed would be what I needed to make the ZXT driveshaft work doesn't fit on the R180. So I'm thinking when I get the driveshaft resized I can just have the shop cut off the front part of the ZXT driveshaft and weld that on the stock driveshaft. I know the ZXT driveshaft is bigger so the flange will stick out a bit, but it should still work right? My sec…

I'm currently selling one of my Datsuns on collector car trader and a few other online/magazine sites and I've run into the following quandery: A man who runs a vintage car dealership offers me the asking price (or MORE than the asking price) for the car, and says that the buyer will be sending me a check directly. Sounds simple enough, right? Only the guy wants to send me a refund bank check that he got from some other transaction, so it'll be about $5,000 MORE than what the car is being sold for, so they want a refund check from my bank account for the balance. This is the part where I told the dealer to go to hell unless he showed up with cash in a briefcase. For tho…

I was just wondering what you guys think of these wheels. They look similar to watanabes. I like them, but I think they might be too bright on my z. I love that they have such a deep lip. What do you guys think about these wheels on a Z? Does anyone have a picture of a Z with them or own a set? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43954&item=2424953864 I want that that Fairlady Z look, but I am thinking about waiting to find a nice set of watanabe's. The other thing that I am thinking about is, would black or gunmetal watanabes look too dark on my car since it is light blue? Take a look at it in my gallery. I would love some …

Right now I am talking strictly in appearance, but what are the differences between the datsun 240z and the datsun 280z. My untrianed rookie eye can only really see a difference in the bumpers. But I am sure that is not the only exterior difference. Please help out the rookie. . Thanks!!
