   Purchase/Restoration/Mod -- Where to start

   I just got the bug. I have always liked 240 - 280Z cars. I want one. I am willing to work on it. My dream car would be essentially stock, except it would have at least 250HP, great wheels, and might be slightly lowered. I would probably put modern brakes on it too. I would probably put more modern seats and seatbelts in too. So where the heck do I start? I suspect there are answers all over the board. Could you guys point me to the right areas, and FAQs and hold my hand a little as I get started? Fortunately, I live in San Diego, so chances are good I can find a decent car without rust to start with... Here goes... Off to lurk on the boards and dig up advice..…

   Hi everyone, I recently came upon a 1974 Datsun 260z for sale. The owner doesn't know if it runs and drives, and the car has most of the rocker panels rotted out and part of the floor. There is also some surface rust lurking about. It was originally his dad's car so he knows virtually nothing about it. He wants $800 for it and I'm not sure if I should pay that in case the car is a junk heap. My question is where do these cars usually rot, and do you think it's worth it if the car runs and drives? Thanks for the help, I'm looking forward to joining the community (hopefully).

   hehehehehehe:love: !!!!!! wow, i forgot how much fun these things are to drive! that's what has been causing my absense, out playing around! well, a small update for everyone.... my father and i bought a 73 240Z that we were planning on dropping a 327 into, but, the passeneger side is GONE along with the strut towers. so, we are parting it out. interior is immaculate, and includes an extra dashboard, 15" alloy rims, extra head (E-88), hubcaps, a bunch of other stuff. anyone need anything? the doors and fenders are clean, the doors are from a 71. if anyone needs some parts (other than the rims, 4spd, and a couple of others that i am keeping), let me know, and we ca…

   Shouldn't the new "350Z" be called the "350ZX"? I base this on the fact that Nissan called the "280ZX" a "ZX" because it used a different body design to the privious models. And if im not mistaken the "350Z" looks conpletely different to the "300ZX". If no-one can answer this question, can you please tell me the Nissan Australia/Japan e-mail?

    How can I be sure all my numbers match. I'v located the numbers on my passenger side block... L24 070XXX. What does this tell me about my car and what numbers should this match elsewhere. Does it have any correlation to the vehicle ID #? I'm new at this and was curious. Thank.
