I am attempting to order a 19 tooth(white) speedometer gear from Courtesy Nissan, but the parts guy(and myself) seemed a bit confused, so I need to know : would this part be listed under a different transmission than mine(I have a stock 4 speed but the rear end is a 3.9)? Will the gear for a 5 speed fit the 4 speed? What years? Anyone have a part No. for this speedo gear? Thanks, Victor.

I have written this in response to several posts in the past suggesting an expansion to this website's observed Z models. I argue as to why? Let us be. NOTE > As with most points of view, there exists a contrasting thought, so having said that, should you become offended, don't be, don't take me seriously, no one has yet. This is going to sound really naive to you guys, but what are the differences between a 240, 260, 280Z other than engine size? I ask because I would like to know how to tell them apart by looks. I heard bumper size mentioned??? Also, how much general maintenance does a Z car require? I'm used the the amount that my 1982 fj60 landcruiser requires; I've replaced everything from cylinderhead to suspension. I expect the Z to require similar work, but I REALLY hope it's not more. Found another Z I will be looking into. This one is in Lexington SC. It is a '72, but the ad tells nothing about it. Just says looks and runs great. It is black, so I know it has been painted, but then again, my first Z was a black '72. Anyone know anything about this car? Looks pretty nice, but body work can be very misleading. The one thing that it has going for it, is the black paint. Pretty hard to hide body work under black. Gonna try and call in the morning. I just can't shake the desire for one of these cars.

There is this wierd sound that is coming from the engine compartment. It seems to be there when I start it, but when it starts moving it is still there but not as much. It sounds like an aweful whine. The car just started making the sound today. The only thing that I did different was not warm it up because I was in a rush, but I don't think that would be it. I thought it was coming from the fan or the fan shroud, but I am not certain. It is an early 260z. If any one can help or give ideas that would be great. Thanks. -Ben

Just to see how many of us are what could be considered "gear-heads" or "motor heads" how about if each of us lists the automotive magazines we either subscribe to, or buy regularly on the newstand? Hey guys, I'm looking at all kinds of styles of front spoilers for my 260...wondering about members who have one on their car, the different styles, suppliers etc We could make a nice little listing for members to go and visit...if u have an aftermarket bar (including an aftermarket G-nose) then post a message with the details; ie Quality of construction, price, ease of fitment, supplier service quality, location and finally some pics so we can ogle them!!
