Well I went to the storage facility and took lots of pics. Unfortunately, the rear brakes where locked and there was another car in the way so I couldn't move it out and take better pics. As I was told from the owner it was bought from Bob Tedd Datsun in Fairfax, Virginia it has been in the area all its life, and in storage all it's life. According to the gentlemen that is storing and watching the car over the past 12 years he says it has hardly ever been in the sunlight, it has a few dings on the side and in the drivers side rear quarter by the tail light and the front bumper but this Z is an absolute time capsule. Obviously, I was only able to take pics of 3 out of th…

Hi all - great forum! I have lurked on here for a few months and have decided to say hello as my Z is back from its 14-month restoration. The story on my Z is that it was my late fathers car - he had it from new. It sat in the garage for nearly 12 years where it had a small amount of restoration work done to it , but time got the better of us! It is still sinking in that it is sitting in my garage with better paintwork than its garage partner! Still loads of little bits to do on it - but that’s half the fun! Who else is in the UK? - (I recognise a few name from the UK Z club Site) Not sure if the picture uploaded? Paul

Literally just a few days away from getting my car to the weld/paint shop. :classic: Have to replace the alternator/VR and possibly battery, so I can drive it. Obviously, needs it anyway. So I bought the alternator yesterday. Novice mechanic that I am, I was very pleased with my progress that I was making in removing the old alternator (loosened tensioning bolt, removed belt, disconnected all electric, removed lower bolt on backside). Wiggled, jiggled and tugged, then realized that there is a lower front bolt.... what a pain in the arse to get to (with fan/radiator in place). Finally coaxed my fat fingers into getting a socket on the bugger. Barely enough "strok…

This is something that has always intrigued me. In Aus there were roughly 2400 240Z's sold here. Some might say not many, but keep in mind this was a fairly expensive sports car at that time with a population of somewhere around 16,000,000. Then the 260Z's came along with which the 2+2 was introduced. About 1100 2 seaters were sold but nearly 3000 2+2's sold during the four and a half years these were on the market before the 280ZX was released. As we all know 280Z's never made it to Aus, other than a few, i'll say special imports. In the US on the other hand, the figures are quite the reverse when it comes to 2 seaters and 2+2's, is this a lifestyle thing or a matter …

I have always been a fan of the first-gen Zs and I will be attending an auction soon where a 71 will be up for sale. Given the auction environment, I will be somewhat limited in how completely I can check out the car, and I was hoping that I could pick the brain of the collective consciousness here as to what to look for as far as problem areas go. Of course I am sure that rust is an issue on these cars, but where are the most likely areas to look? Are there any other issues which are common and easily recognizeable. Are there any serious issues which would make a car that looked like a good buy a potential money pit? Thanks in advance for any and all input you all can pr…

Okay here it goes. I'm having a power loss on my 73 240. It seems to happen when when the car is warm and the rpms are above 2k. I let her run for thirty minutes idling and it did not die. I then jumped in and reved her up. The tach went up and then went down. All the way down. I then tried starting her up again. She turned over fine but then it just went dead after the initial surge of power. I'm getting fuel into the carbs so it is not the fuel filter or pump. I tested out the coil and it is fine. The distributor is okay too. I checked the plugs and wires but they were all fine. I also tested the alternator and it is working fine. I'm at a dead end and I need some help …
