I just got insurance today for AU$600 full comprehensive for one year limited to 8000km which is fine by me as I drive less than that. Previously I had only Third Party Property as it was difficult for me to find comp ins due to my semi-bad record. I'm so happy. It's a big weight off my shoulders I tell you. Next year it should go down to around AU$350.:classic: I got it with these guys. http://www.famousinsurance.com.au They are in WA but cover Australia wide. After starting my body work in earnest, I found rust under "decorative" rocker panel trim. See pix. I think I pretty much whittled it back pretty close to unblemished metal. How much should I cut out? I REALLY don't want to replace entire panels/fenders; would prefer to cut cleanly and weld patches. Looking for advice. ...this sucks.:sick:

'77 280 Z Staying Hot

I drive my Z around and get it up to operating temp. I stop and turn the car off and return 10 minutes later. When I start the Z the engine temp is up to 250 and it just sounds horrible. I have a clue what it might be. Everything calms down when the car cools back down to operating temp. Please help. Send your suggetstions. Thanks in advance

My "SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED" has given my Zed the nick name "PRECIOUS". Steve tells me that his wife refers to his car as THE OTHER WOMAN. What do you call your car ???????? Last month I finally bought a super clean 1971 240Z after wanting one for years to replace the '74 260 and '75 280 I had back in the good old 70's. I am thoroughly enjoying it but have a problem though. I cant seem to fill her up with more than maybe 11 to 12 gallons of gas at about 200 miles so I'm getting about 18 to 19 mpg. I actually ran out of gas the other day pulling into a gas station with 211 miles showing on the odometer, then it only would take 12.3 gallons to fillup......is this normal? Also when I do topoff the tank the gauge only goes 3/4 the way up but I can see the gas in the filler neck, do I maybe have a problem with the recovery tank or a kinked line s…

Not 10 minutes after saying that I give up on wanting a Z, I find myself talking to someone selling one. I don't know how I called, I just realized I was talking to him on the phone. After looking at the latest '70 yesterday, I had become discouraged since it has so much rust under the battery. The seats were shot, the shifter was spongy (to be nice), and the front suspension needed attention. Not to mention that the AC and radio did not work. For 11K I really expected a nicer Z. Now, I have not written that one off entirely, I am just waiting to see what else presents itself, and might hopefully be able to convince him to sell it to me for $7500 to $8500. I looked…

Last weekend I was driving home and noticed a 240Z on a trailer going into my subdivision, so I decided to follow and find out who this guy is. We did not have time to talk but we exchanged names and I planned to get back to see him next week.
