Hi all. I'm still in the process of looking for a Z to buy. I found this 73' 240z with the Japanese 2.0 dohc engine. Excuse my ignorance but is this a good find? The first time I test drove it I fell in love with it. The car is in decent condition. There's a little bit of rust right above the hatch...and other than that I couldn't find anythign else. Now, both door handles are broken and the gauges don't light up inside. I know all of this is vague but I can't think of anymore. I'd like your guys opinions on what I should do, and if you think the repairs for this car will cost a lot? The price that the guy is asking is $1695 usd. If you need more information, rep…

Do good mechanics exist? I have had numerous different mechanics work on my car and it seems that every mechanic out there is a greasy-handed, all-thumbed kluts. Is it the Datsun badge that makes them think the car isn't worth looking after? Or have I just had bad luck? Or, God forbid, are all mechanics really as stupid as the ones I have met make out to be??? When I got my roadworthy, the mechanic lent on the fender with his elbow with such a force that it bent in and back out again, leaving some strain lines in the paint. When I got my brakes looked at and the bonnet opening catch working, they told me my master cylinder was broken (well, DUH) and they fixed the bonnet …

I just bought a 240z today in Perth WA. Needs a bit of work, but I'm up for it. Should be fun. It's my second 240z, the first was a 72 and in very poor condition. I Sold it years ago. The new 240z is also a 72, but in a lot better condition (not much rust at all). What's the deal with the speedo being in MPH? both of them were, but Australia uses KPH, and has done since about 1960something. Anyone in Australia with a speedo in KPH? if so what year car is it? I've borrowed a Digital camera from a friend and will have a few pictures up soon.

Turned into my driveway and the front left ball joint disengaged from the strut!. The top of the ball joint has zero thread and was badly worn. No warning of this or shaking before hand. Problem is I am not able to get the top of the ball joint back inside the strut. Trying to so it can be towed to a shop. Not able to get the lug nuts off the wheel either since there is no pressure on the strut. Tried a hydraulic jack to try and get the strut above the top of the joint as well. Any ideas? I dont want it towed for fear it will tear off the front air dam when trying to roll the car. Only other route I can think of is to disconnect the strut from the top. Thank God I wa…
