Update on my Z 1 2

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, i've been quite busy studying since I am in college. I was pretty miffed at first, because the guy selling it had basically built it up to be a car in superb condition, inside/out and mechanically. This did not prove to be the case. I considered sending it back under the terms of our secure pay agreement, but after driving it for a bit and throughly enjoying myself, I couldn't stand the thought of sending it back. It has a little rust here and there (none that will be too bad to get rid of when I have time to treat it this summer), and the engine will need some work as it is currently burning some oil, but I decided I would just fix th…

Hands Dirty? 1 2

One thing I've noticed about this site is that most (if not all) members here actually like getting their hands dirty, i.e. do their own mechanicals and body work, to the limit of their individual capabilities. However, if your significant other (otherwise known as She Who Must Be Obeyed) is anything like mine, showing up at the (fill in the blank....Govenor's Party, Afternoon Tea, Soiree, Hallowe'en party, etc) with dirty hands or fingernails....is definitely verboten. One way I've found that allows me to work on my Zs to my heart's desire and still look presentable afterward, is to rub a handfull of liquid dish soap into my hands BEFORE I start working. Just rub it i…

Guys, Attached is a pic of a 1970 240Z which was taken at the 2003 'Classic Sandalford' in Perth Australia. This event is basically a quarter mile sprint for classis and interesting cars held at one of the wineries near Perth (yes, those are grape vines in the background!) The owner is Rich Davies, a local 240Z identity. He and his wife Pat (both retired) regularly compete in Classic rallies, sprints and navigation trials in Western Australia... Now, after the odd disparaging remark about female drivers/navigators, he has asked me to defend Pat. Rather than paraphrase, I'll include Rich's own words which provide us all a lesson in growing old (dis)gracefully! "...so pe…

"It was really about the fact we had to be visionary and not retro, not looking back," said Diane Allen, head of California-based Nissan Design America and in charge of the 350Z's styling. "We wanted to celebrate our future, not our past. The more we looked at it, we needed more of a modern, visionary statement." I've copied the above statement from an article in the news column of the site: http://www.canada.com/national/story.asp?id={03387C89-BCCA-4800-AA2B-9E66F3D8EAE1} "not our past" "modern, visionary"........ someone please tell me this woman does not have her job anymore. At a time when everyone is going retro, you go retro. As much as I hate VW, they proved we w…

My wife's uncle forwarded this to us today and I've never heard of this before. What do you think? (I realize this isn't Z related, but I'd think that a lot of you all have vehicles with this option that may affect you) "This is something good to know, in case you like to use the cruise control An individual had a wreck a couple of weeks ago and totaled their Lincoln Town Car. She hydroplaned on Hwy 135 between Gladewater & Kilgore, Texas. She was not hurt, just emotionally rattled! She learned a lesson I'd like to pass on to you. You may know this already--but the highway patrolman told her that you should NEVER drive in the rain with your cruise control on. He said …

people with daily drivers of the 240 or 260. How much would you guess you spend annually on the vehicle. I am talking, to keep it running how much do you spend. Not the things that you add on.

The short story: I've got a 77 280 in the body Shop including the price of the car I've got aprox $3000 in to it, and it will need approx another $6000 to get it on the road again (mostly body work) if I'm lucky I might get $4000 to $5000 at that point. There's a 73 240z asking price $2000, I only need one Z do I cut my loses or continue through the 77 280 project.

last weekend I had to bleed the clutch on my 78 280. while going through the process, I noticed I have a slight leak at the operating cylinder. I searched the archives to figure out how difficult/expensive this little problem will be to fix, but could find no mention of this part. I saw plenty mention of a "slave cylinder", but nothing about an "operating cylinder". I am assuming that these are the same part ??? The anwser may be obvious to some out there, but to me it's not. thanx in advance for any clarification.
