Hello all, I’m just about done rebuilding my 240Z, L24 engine. I’ve managed to keep most of the parts stock with the exception of the cam and pistons, they are the next size up from stock. Would it be better to run the car with 2-2.5 in. hearers or keep it stock? Would like your thoughts on this.

So I bought a 1977 280 Z to rebuild my race car on the chasis. In stripping the tub I discovered more rust than I had expected:cry: but I also found the original canister to inflate the silly spare. I had never seen one of these. Is it valuable? Anybody doing concours want to make me an offer. It is still charged and only has a small rip in the wrapper (still complete). Or is this just a novelty and not worth anything?

Hey Guys Can anyone help me with a 240Z competition parts catalogue (hard or soft copy) dated prior to 1974. I am desparately trying to get Triple Mikuki/Solex carbs homologated into Group Sc historic racing here in Australia and need evidence that they were in fact avaliable at that time. I'm also working on electronic ignition and oil coolers. The parts caterlogue I have is titled Datsun 240Z.260Z.280Z Sports Option Parts and dated Jan 1978 I need a copy of the earlier issue prior to 1974 Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me directly afildes@klmgroup.com.au or at this site. cheers Alan Fildes Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club Melbourne Australi…

my friend with the '72 Z i've been working on wants to sell it. she's trying to determine if it's worth fixing the bent valve first. she thinks that if it's running properly (mostly) she can get 1k for it. without it running correctly, we're thinking only $300-$500. the body is mostly straight although it looks like there is eveidence of bondo (i haven't magnet tested the body yet). there is also significant rust along the lenght of the rocker panels. the interior is, well, 30 years old and not bad for being 30 years old. the engine seemed to run o.k. until that valve hung and got bent. i've never driven the car more than about 40 feet at a time so i can't say much…

Hi Ivan, There was a stock standard 240Z being dyno tested after mine which was great as a comparison. Although a standard 240z is rated 150HP at the flywheel they could barely get 100Hp at the rear wheels. Brisbane Turbo and Tuning is owned by John Whittaker who has a 547Hp twin turbo 2.5 skyline motor in his Z and his son has a single turbo 250 HP L28 motor in his Z. He seems to know what he is talking about. However I am open to any further info from the gallery.

Sorry my mistake. Actual torque is 282 nm between 3500 and 4000RPM. HP at flywheel is 168HP at 109kmph I found out that: HP at the flywheel is - HP at the rear wheels plus one third. ie. 126 + 42 = 168HP So my Z has good torque and power where I need it most for roadwork and would need a different cam for serious competition work.

Took a look at the winery sprints today (could have done with it being a bit less than 41 degrees) saw a couple of reasonable zed's and a really grim looking 260 (sorry if that belongs to any of you guy's) I had a look at the 240z entered for the sprint and owned by a guy called Rich Davies, he entered the car as a 1970 240z and has completed many rallies in this car with this production year listed (although this is the first time I have actually seen the car), does anyone else agree with me that it was a 1971 model, ie no rear hatch vents, holes in the steering wheel, speedo starting at 0 instead of 20mph etc, etc Would be interested to know if anyone else had a good l…

just bought my first Z, a 260Z. i'm very excited, the Z-car holds so much nostalgia for me because all i could remember my dad owning for most of my life were Z cars. we lived in japan when i was a kid and he owned 2 Skyline GTs, a G-nose Z, and a 1980 Fairlady. he brought the Fairlady back with him, and i thought that would someday be my car... course as fate would have it, it was wrecked in 95... 8 years later, and i've bought my first car (as opposed to the 3 given to me before), and it's a Z! it's in rough shape, needs to be pretty much completely rebuilt, and it doesn't have the original motor (it's a 2.8L), but at least it's not the V8 that i thought was in the car…

Can anyone recommend a good insurance company who specializes in vintage cars. I know somewhat about milage restrictions but what about the condition of the car now versus when I start redoing it or when it gets done.(Someday). I live in the northeastern U.S. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thought I might throw up a question in the arena for anyone to jump on top of. I see one Gladiator who will no doubt be able to tame this beast, anyone else game?? A few sources have said that the engine was "copied" from the Mercedes 6. How correct is this statement?
