Correct me if I'm wrong but... through conversations about early model Z's...I was told that by 1972, Datusn had a lot of the bugs worked out of the car but made some changes in 1973 that resulted in mechanical/electrical problems. Is there any truth to this? Also, as I am not familiar with engine codes and options for these cars, is there any thing that a 240Z has as an option that makes it more desirable? The education continues! Thanks-

I posted this on Hybrid Z a while back (not sure why, as this car aint no hybrid! ) Anyhow, it is Spirit Garage s30Z race car. with what seems to be an L24 bored out to 2.8 litres ? with triple 50mm solex carbies. I JUST got a copy of the video yesterday. It is of Keichi Tsuchiya punting it around a racetrack from a recent Hot Version VCD and it looks and sounds absolutely insane. 1:03 laptime was very similar to that of 550hp r34 gtr's and 500 hp FD rx7's, silvias etc. I would love to somehow convert it into divx etc so that you can all view it, however first i have no space nor the no how to host it, and the file would also be very large... (segment goes for abo…

I am ready to beat my head against the wall. Can someone give me some advice on the wiring problem that I may have.... Voltage regulator has always been questionable, the needle has been bouncy from day one. Was always going to replace the regulator and never did... Funny thing is, the tach has allways read high also. Driving along last week I noticed that the amp guage was acting weird and suddenly the gauge dropped to the middle and lights dimmed slightly, no increase when revved. AND the tach read normal. NOW we can get no charging out of the system. Have replaced the alternator and the voltage regulator and still no charge. It's acting as if a relay is not acti…

some of you have followed my brief saga working on a friends '72. for those that haven't, this is what i know of it. she got it sometime in the '80s, i think as a graduation present, and used it as primary transportation for years. problem is, she lived in colorado for many of those years, you know, snow and salt:sick: anyway, she moved down to vegas in the early nineties and continued to drive the car relatively trouble free. it eventually developed an electrical problem she couldn't get fixed sometime around '98-'99 so she just parked it. that is were i come in, well, 3-4 years later anyway. she finds out i'm a mechanic (industrial) by trade and asks if i can get …

I have a 1970 Z that is half thru restoration. I have installed a Mallory Unilite Distributor. I am now trying to decide which Electronic Ignition and coil combo to go with this distributor. I am only using for street but have a fresh Rebello built engine going into the car. Would like to hear what others are using for ignition set ups. I have been looking at MSD 6 and Crane Fireball XR-3000. Conected to a PS-91 Crane coil. Thanks Mark

Thought I'd make a general post to introduce myself... I'm a vintage Mustang owner but I enjoy vintage cars of all makes. The vintage Z's (and 510's) have stood out to me as a classic (affordable) import sports car. I like the lines of the car and it's racing herritage. I don't think this car is too dissimilar to Mustangs on a few levels. I'm big on respect across the board on vintage auto ownership and I like what I see from the Z community. Mostly I'll just lurk and learn. I'm toying with the idea of a Z if the right one comes along. My Mom had a 72 240Z when I was real young, so there's my connection:) At any rate, I do have a few questions... 1.) Are RS Watanabe wheel…

i was wondering how much on average i should be spending on a 240Z if i were to buy one used (, duh) from someone. im hoping to get one in relitively good condition because i want to mod it but also use it as a daily driver. if anyone had some guidelins on what to look for in a (american) 240z that would be greatly appriciated. Thank you. -Scott

I may be a little late on this but did anyone notice the Z car ads in the new sports illustrated swimsuit issue? They even had ads for the older z cars. You know your a z nut when your looking more at the cars instead of the half naked women.
