any idea how much power a stock rear end from a 77' 280 will handle? I haven't heard, nor seen, any comments from the 350-into-Z's crowd about changing the rear end, nor anything from the turbo crowd. Can I assume then that the stock rear end will handle 350 to 400 hp and comperable torque output? If not, any suggestions? 20BS30

Mornin'! Yesterday I switched from the flat-tops to a set of round... No vac leaks, no fuel leaks. Back carb is running rich, VERY rich. We are talking Richy Rich here, the adjustment for the jets on the bottom of the carb is dialed ALL the way up and the car still runs. Idle seems smooth is the funny thing, then, if you depress the throttle about half way and hold it, you get a motor that's suddenly only reving about 800 then falling, acting like it's starving instead of climbing in RPM. This is if you depress the throttle and hold it, it just sits and stumbles like it's running out of fuel. Which there is little or no rich smoke coming out the exhaust during this, …

Im a new forum guy here.. Im a few months shy of purchasing a 1984 Nissan 300ZX I really cant find much info on the car except that it's a classic.. or so I think. That and the car is an 'as-is' car which has never been checked out.. and I dont know what problems may already be wrong with the car ( Like how some cars have faulty parts already in it..or a reccomended upgrade to prevent future problems ) I feel like taking the car, stripping the paint off and giving it say.. midnight blue or black, Gonna rip the stereo out and put in a CD-R player with mp3 capabilities with a nice sub in the back I dont really expect the car to be fast.. Hey All, Has anyone else seen the pictures of the soon to be release (in Japan anyway) 350Z soft top? or to the Japanese the Fairlady Z Roadster! I'm sold, they look pretty damn fine, but at $80-90k Australian I'll have to pass.... Pity :classic: The article I've got here recon's teh new Roadster will eventually make up about a third of US sales for the new Zed car. Anyone else seen anything on these little beauties?? Has anyone had any experience with using a triple hitachi setup. i am currently running standard twin hitachis on a L26 motor. looking for improved performance (acceleration). Heard good things and bad but in a quandary whether to convert over to this type of setup or save my bikkies for something else.

OK, here's the scenario, this engine is the one in the '74 260. It's been built from head to toe, L28 / N42 setup, bored, hemispherical pistons, cam, head is polished and ported, mikuni intake with triple mikunis, mallory dual point ign., headers, bla, bla, bla. The motor sat for about 1 year. Has been run hard for the last 40k miles or so. Compression on the number 1 hole (front of the motor, closest to the fan) is 150. The heat coming off the header at that hole is way cooler that the rest. Seems to miss. Have replaced the wires, plugs, cap rotor... With the compression at 150 it doesn't seem like it could be rings. I know this is vague, anyone have a place to …

Hi everyone- I'm a new member and potential buyer of a '71 240z. I was hoping someone could help me with some questions and have a look at the car I'm considering. Here's some pics: The car appears clean and very well kept. The interior and dash are in great shape. Here's a pic of the engine. Other than needing to re-route some wires and hose's everything seemed fine and the numbers match. I saw a pic of another 240z with that bar on the door also. Just to be sure, is it standard? I am trying to remove the brake and clutch lines from the engine bay but can seem to unscrew from the brake slave (at least I think thats what it is). I have tried soaking in liquid wrench but the 10mm wrench wont budge it. Anybody experience the same problems? Mark
