well i was having hell of a time getting my car to run right yesterday. :stupid: so i decided to go all out today and get it straight today so what i did was take both carbs completely apart and just went at it cleaning and getting all the gunk out cleaning every lil bit of the gunk on the outside of the carbs at the adjusters:tapemouth turned everything back to square one. adjusted the float levels which were really out of whack:disappoin well guess what put it all together . made a very small adjustment and voila shes running like a scalded dog agian. woo hoo well all is well in z land again. oh and i finally get my car well start to get it fixed this …

Have seen some weights quoted for "Fairlady"240z at 995 Kg,240z at 985Kg(might have been the other way round) were these home market cars? and 240z at 1040Kg Any thoughts on how these production ? cars shed so much weight? Nick

Are bumpers for 1972 and 1973 240Z exactly the same? The reason why I am asking would a bumper over-rider kit from a 73 240Z fit on a 72 240Z? That is a kit for front and rear bumpers.

Hello All... Oil pressure seems a bit low, about 1/3 up the guage and it takes a while to get there... Compression is strong, has anyone ever had an oil pump get weak? Just looking for suggestions before I go and order a pump... Thanks, have a good Monday.

Just got a 73 240. It has the N42 head and (arggg) Hitachi's. Right now it runs like a pooch. You need to really wind it out to keep it from lugging. I noticed a slight lope at idle that suggests a vaccum leak. Combined with the carbs and needing a tuneup, I figure that is most of the problem. My question are: 1. I understand that the bronze guides on the N42 can sink, leading to disaster. Is this common/inevitable (do I need to address it like NOW)? 2. What is the most cost effective way to swap out the Hitachis for early SU's ? Thanks.

Remember when you sold candy bars door-to-door for 3rd grade band uniforms and got a few 'slams'? Does anyone know how to test the fuel pressure regulator? I am still having a problem with a rich mixture because im getting black smoke and black spark plugs. I have a fuel injected 75-78 L28 in my 240z. Any other idea's as too why i might be getting a rich mixture? FYI...I got the car in a salvage yard so im trying to piece it back together. I was just wondering what things i should test and how. THanks guys for info.
