Ok here's the deal...i just bought a 240z from a salvage yard...in other words i have no idea of its history. I first noticed it had the L28 engine in it w/ the fuel injection...So i called to dealer to find out what year my engine was; they said it was from a 79-83 280Z. Here's my problem...i got a repair manual for 70-84 Z's and i can not match the right year of my engine to corrospond with all the componets to save my life. It looks as though it has a 75-77 or so ignition unit because it has that ignition control unit in the passenger kick panel (not on the side of the distibitor). I think there is also a risistor in-line with the coil and EI control unit. Many of the …

What is a fair price for an l28 block - stamped for matting to a N42 head - I'm mounting a E31 head? There seems to be a fair amount of surface rust in the water compartment. The block does not include a fly wheel or water pump, but does include the timing chain and cover. Should I spend more and get a block with a flywheel ? GREG

what does the factory service manual look like. The one that I was told you can buy from the dealership, but cost quite a bit of money. I also heard that it was the best manualto work on a 240Z. If any of you have a picture that I can reference too that would be great. I know it is not a haynes manual or a chilton

greetings all, after a long absence from wrenching, i have a hankering to embark on a new project, i was a 510 fanatic in my younger years, had 4 of them, in the days when a 2-door 510 was just a matter of checking the want-ads, driving em to death seemed perfectly acceptable, anyways later i bought a 73 240 that i basically left stock aside from dome-top SUs early bumpers and a 280 5speed, this was my daily driver for over 5years, then everything went at once, rear-end started clunking, transmission started howling, engine smoking.... been sitting in my garage collecting dust (but not rust) for the past 12yrs. The plan had always been a healthy L28 (triple DCOEs …

I have been looking into buying a 72' or 73' 510 sometime between now and this same time next year. I will have roughly 11000 dollars canadian to purchase it. so somewhere around 7000-8000 USD. Just wondering if anyone knows any good places to look for 510 info and classifieds, websites that sell datsun parts could also be usefull.

I have seen some threads here drop into car bashing or ( I hate ) Now dont take this wrong I am not standing up for the "ricers" for ricers are what I hate not the cars. This is A new breed of bonehead :stupid: . There the ones that run around with moms poor old import with oversized wheels and A bolt on tail pipe big enough ta put your fist in. Mind you it's hooked up too the stock 1 1\4 pipe. Now if there real cool they take A hack saw too the springs or just heat um up with A torch till they give up and drop. I spent three years in las vegas (working @ A dealership as there finance manager)10 years with A classic car auction (auctions all over America one eve…

first one is how can you tell if the master cylinder or booster is bad. what happens is the brake pedal has a lot of free travel the bang brake and its hard too. ive bled them several times using a vacumn bleeder and the pump and release method. still same thing. nothing lot of free travel the hard hard pedal like im at the end of the cylinder as far as it will go the brake. sometimes its good brake sometimes not. also the engine revs up then back down inbetween where i start to feel brake for a sec and when it hits full brake second. what would cuase the speedometer to stop working all of a sudden. i mean this literally. drove around for about 25 minutes no…
