Bought what was supposed to be an operational 78 5 speed on CL. It is on my workbench, not hooked up to an engine. Put a shifter on it and ran through the gears, but I cannot get it into 5th gear. is there ANY reason it should not go into 5th? It acts just like my 4 speed. I thought I would look foolish here before I go back to the seller and look like an idiot. In my defense, I've never had a 5 speed out of the vehicle, so I'm not sure how it should act. I assume it should just slide into 5th. It goes to all of the other gears easily, including reverse. Maybe the guy didn't know what he had. The case is the 'B' type, so it could be a 4 or 5 speed? Just wondering if people find the chat room helpful. It's not a big deal to keep it going but I think a chat room could be used for some pretty cool things. Help with a Zcar technical challenge, for instance. Would it be a good idea to set up some kind of regular chat session so members can jump in and ask questions? It might be kind of fun. FYI, I added a block to the main page called "who's chatting" so you can look to see who's in there before you jump in.

Anybody watching the Olympics? Didn't realize how far NBC was manipulating things until I got on the old interweb and saw that Usain Bolt had won the 100 meters (sorry if you live on the West Coast and were going to watch it). Even though it's not on NBC west coast until 9:25 tonight. Sunday afternoon, perfect sports TV time and NBC thinks nobody is on the internet, or gets the same out of a taped performance as a live event. Dinosaurs.
