I did a quick search for the home made tool thread, but I didn't find it. (Of course, I didn't spend too much time looking for it.) I bought some folding table leg brackets from Amazon a while back for this project, and I finally made the time to execute. The video shows the door sill height benchtop I made for when I have to lie on my back to work in the footwell. I used 2x12 for the benchtop with 2x4 legs. I hope you find it useful.

This didn't happen to my Z, but i thought you guys would find this amusing. I have a 1991 Mazda B2200 pickup, and about a week ago it started making an awful noise just as i was pulling up to my garage. I immediately shut the engine down. Upon inspection I noticed one of the nuts used to hold the air cleaner assy. to the carburetor was missing. Oh boy. I figured it thrashed an entire cylinder, piston/valves/cylinder walls etc. When I pulled the head I found it wedged between the valve seat and the #4 intake valve. It never entered the bottom end or made contact with the piston. When I removed the nut I put mineral spirits in the combustion chamber with the val…

Who is looking for some wall art? https://www.sportscarart.com/product/datsun-240z/ https://www.sportscarart.com/product/bre-datsun-240z/ For the BRE design, the artist consulted with Ron Carter, Randy Jaffe, Peter Brock, and John Morton, so there was quite an effort to get the details right.

Sometimes you find something so cool you just have to share it. Only electrical geeks will truly appreciate the engineering behind this amazing device. Behold the StewMac “FREE WAY ULTRA SWITCH” Read deeply into the specifications for this thing. It’s mind blowing. Today you’d do that level of switching sophistication with software and transistors. Though not if you’re a musician apparently. There just has to be a way to use in a Datsun. Use your imaginations. Enjoy! https://www.stewmac.com/electronics/components-and-parts/switches/free-way-ultra-switch/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=pla&fbclid=IwAR0YLOqtfkuf7P3…

No parts store around here has Fram G2 filters at the moment. I found some off brand knockoffs at them but no Frams. I bought from o'Reilly's "Micro" something or another. The OE fuel filter looks good and was only $5 but the G2 that I use coming out of the fuel tank was a off, the 5/16" barb went down to an 1/8" hole on the out side. The in barb is 5/16". My thinking is to gently open the small hole by slowly turning a drill bit while blowing through to keep the shavings out of the filter. No big deal but was curious if anyone else ran into to this. That "supply chain" excuse is worn out and this is just poor adherence to specifications in my opinion. Ju…

This weekend hasn't been a great one for me. The wife and I decided a little while back that the last car ride for the last of our dogs would be tomorrow. Given all of the dogs passed relatively close together and not long after my mother-in-law has made it just that much harder. So yesterday I was cleaning up the wagon for the ride to the vet, and the neighbor came over to ask a wiring question for his MG. He described the problem(s), and I gave him some information. We also agreed for me to come over today to take a look at his car. After all, car diagnostics would get my mind off of losing my girl, even if it was only for a short time. I went over to his hou…

Not much for Datsun stuff there. I did find this Harada antenna I know it is not from a Z but looks close in size and shape. I tried looking up the part number but did not find much. Anyone seen this one before and know the application? $10 I couldn't pass it up. I also ran across this truck tool kit with a new lug wrench and jack handle, the other part seems to be missing. It did have the paper in there though, and the bag is in good shape. Again $10 I could pass it up.
