This DataDot system looks like a good way to help identify stolen cars and parts - and anything else that might get lost or stolen: http://www.datadotdna.com/us/datadot_cars.php

1973_Datsun_240Z_.pdf I was just shopping for an Agreed Value insurance policy when I move back to Canada, and had a look at Hagerty Insurance. I generated a Price Guide for a 1973 240z and have attached it to this post. What's really interesting is the 35% jump in value between Jan and May 2015, now $42,700 for Condition 1 and $29,900 for Condition 2!!!

I feel like I should thread this for future problem solvers. It actually happens. My engine was running weirdly, with a very light constant on-off surging at highway cruising speeds, and adjusting fuel mix with my coolant circuit potentiometer didn't have any effect. So I took the distributor out to see if I might have a broken spring letting timing fluctuate. Also checked the vacuum diaphragm and found it was blown. Not completely but enough that you could blow some air through it. The cam, weights, and springs were fine. I'd guess that the vacuum would pull the diaphragm, advancing timing, then the hole would open and it would lose it. Or something like that. P…

One night me and a friend where talking after work with a few beers about the Bricklin SV1 that was in the show Gas Monkey garage. We thought what a cool car, and after some beers went searching on Ebay just for fun ( at first ), and found 2 ( none now ). One in New York.. The guy asked 6.5 k and for fun we said let's try 3k... ( still just for fun not serious buying ) after 30 minutes we got a response back and we had to buy the car ! Then adventure began taking it home, after a long wait.. this is what we got ! It's " pretty " rare .. about 5 or 6 in Europe here according to Wiki, well this might be number 6. We managed to get everything running, and it's …

For 160 km I tended to the fire.... Yup. My good buddy Ross bought 'Tootsie" a 1979 Datsun camper truck with L20. We drove 180km to Springhill, Nova Scotia in my brother's Civic who was going to be the sag wagon on the return leg. Ross is the kind of guy who just does things spontaneously so he bought the camper a few days ago when passing through Springhill on business after only a short test drive and today was the day to drive it back. He asked me to help and said it stumbled a bit as the owner mentioned and that the manifold had a leak so I did a quick check and we were on our way. It was immediately apparent that the double barrel Hitachi c…

Rather than fill grannyknot's thread with more stuff, I figured I'd just reply here to patcon's comment. Just not a fan of people who defend their positions too zealously with little but the internet to support it. From here, #35 - http://www.classiczcars.com/topic/51243-cam-wear/page-2 You have to go back to posts 16 and 17, two pages from Chickenman of links pulled from the internet with commentary, then read my reasonable post 18, then Chickenman's dismissive tone in post 19, to see how it starts...... Deleted some stuff.... Still... tuning out the bad vibes..

The big EDITED banner at the bottom of an edited post bothers me so much that I now leave all of my small mistakes in the post. Is this wrong? Can't even edit within seconds, without the banner.

Looks like we will have a new member in our club soon. What a nice guy! Even more impressive is that he has driven his Z across North America many times over East West and North South and diagonally! Looking forward to seeing your Z!
