This thread will serve to let everyone know what different wheels that fit on our Z cars weigh. I will start it off with the three that I have personally checked. Future people should please include the weight (w/o a tire of course), size (i.e. 14", 15", etc) and a picture of the wheel for reference.

I've been collecting these for a while. Some, and I got an email about an eBay auction for MG?? wire wheels that supposedly fit an S30, so I thought it was time to post the information here. It's an MS Excel spreadsheet, so if you need another format, you can PM me your emaill address and I can send it to you in Word or plain text. thx Bolt pattern Cross Reference.xls

Hey Mike, I was cleaning out my old files and came across this usefull tech piece. I don't know if its legal to add to the technical article area though. The author's name and ph. # appear at the end of the article. The "add or delete" decision is yours. Phred PS Sorry about the big files. I don't know the best way to send them, and have them legible.

How to : Install a functional DVD theater system in your 240Z or 280Z!!! This is a small documentary/how to : install for a cheap arse.. ghetto DVD setup for your vehicle. Total cost : $290 bux What do I get? : -7" Widescreen LCD monitor -Mobile DVD player that plays DVD's, CD's, MP3's, VCD's, SVCD's and has a BUILT IN TV TUNER! To watch TV on the road -FM Modulator What is an FM Modulator? Let's say you have a CD player or a stock radio and you don't have the option to plug in RCA audio or video wires into the back of the radio/cd reciever. What an FM modulator does is it converts the RCA audio cables (Red and White like for your TV) to an FM frequency like 88.3…

Thought I would share some G-Tec screen shots and explain them to those that haven't used a G-Tec meter. The first screen shot is a comparison of horse power between a RB25DET(2500cc DOHC injected turbo) found in the R33 Skyline and the engine in my 240Z which is a hybrid RB30DE(3000cc DOHC injected) naturally aspirated. The first thing you need to know about G-Tec is that it measures Horse power and torque by measuring G force over time, this gives it a torque figure. It then uses rpm which it picks up from the alternator output noise to work out horse power. But the horse power shown is the actual power used to accelerate the car, so it will look lower than a dyno print…

I finally had a free day to myself, a welcome relief as my summer has been busy. My sweetheart and I were married 2 weeks ago, so most of the summer has been spent in planning for the big day. Anyway, I decided to pick up some weed & feed for the lawn, and being such a nice day, I drove my Z. I've been concentrating on freshening up the interior, and one item on my list was the steering wheel. The paint was dull, and there was a little bit of rust in a few spots. So, upon returning home I decided to repaint it. I began by scuffing the painted surfaces with a Scotchbrite pad. This was followed by wet sanding with 400 grit paper (I hope my wife doesn't kill me fo…

Datsun 240Z (early series) Mustache Bar Bushing Replacement and Associated Hardware hints. Recently I undertook the project of replacing my Mustache Bar (MB) Bushings and freshening up the associated mounting hardware. This installation was for STOCK Nissan parts and not URETHANE or POLYURETHANE types which call for several different steps and parts. The step where you remove the actual bushing from the MB is the point of No return, as far as whether to use STOCK or URETHANE bushings. The car that I used for this project has a build date of 6/70 SN 06116: depending on when you car was built the procedures may vary slightly. * SAFETY * This project requires that the car b…

When I bought my '73 240Z, most of the interior parts had been removed and were piled in the rear. After I painted the car I put the interior back together, and I noticed that the horn button would fall off at the slightest touch, even though it seemed to snap into place. Closer inspection revealed a crack in the inner plastic "ring", the one with a groove that is supposed to snap onto the steering wheel, as shown in the first photo. After scratching the old noodle for awhile, and being a DIY type of guy, I came up with a simple fix: it seemed that a tie-wrap cinched around the outer perimeter of the plastic ring would make the horn button stay in place. The second p…

Decided it was time to restore the finish of my badly weathered license light cover. After removing the cover you will notice the color is in the plastic casting itself. I first wet sanded with 1000 grit then wet sanded with 1500 grit. I finished off with 3M rubbing compound p/n 03900. It comes in a 8oz. bottle. It now looks like new! Picture attached but camera is a cheap one so could be better.

FYI. You can research any vehicles recalls and factory service bulletins at this website. For example the dealership did not know what the problem with my Ford was. I found a service bulletin on that problem at this site. What a bunch of idiots at that dealership! www.recalls.gov
