I've had this car since '76, it was a daily driver a long time etc. then sat around so now I'm into a restore. From day 1 in 1976 its had vapor locking issues, I live in the Austin area and 100deg days are quite common. The symptom is you drive somewhere on a hot day, leave it parked for 15 minutes, come back and try to take off. It jumps and bucks a but after 5 minutes of driving things smooth out. Stop at traffic light for a while and it might start bucking again at takeoff. I do have an AC, gotta have that. I have done a lot to help this problem. removed mech fuel pump (you could hear fuel bubbling in there) electric pump was there but not wired u…

I found this site on like the 7th page of a google search. I hadn't heard of them. I was looking for 510 seals but they also have Z and ZX seals. I haven't really studied the prices but I thought it might be an interesting source. FWIW http://www.vintagerubber.com/240z.aspx

I was surfing around at some 240 and fairlady restores in Japan and I saw a list of documents at the end. http://www.geocities.jp/datsunz903/ Report of study for exhaust humes entering from tail gate Sep 1971 I assume this document was originally in Japanese, is there a translated one somewhere?

Hi all, Just purchased a 1970 (6/70) 240Z and want to restore it like it just left the factory. Can you make some recommendations on a shop to do the work? Thanks

Hi All: – I need to replace the outer rocker panels (aka "sills") and lower doglegs on both sides of my ’72 240Z. I will purchase repair panels from The Z Store, Tabco or another supplier (recommendations on suppliers appreciated, btw.). For now, I’m trying to get an understanding of how everything fits together, so I'll have a good understanding before I start cutting. Question: (See the photo below as a reference.) Will the outer rocker repair panels replace the section indicated by the “B” arrow? Is the piece marked “A” the inner rocker? Is the green piece above “A” the inner rocker or the floor section? Am I making sense? BTW: What doesn’t the f…

Figure I would contribute to this Forum with my experience on the I had no idea what I got my self into 240Z project. Maybe it will help others restoring their Z or thinking about it. Bought my 240Z back in 2010 or 2011, cant remember, from a student that went to the same college as me. I remembered seeing him drive the car around campus and was in ahhh every time. I usually saw him driving it same day of the week in one my classes seeing out the window during class session. Every time I wasnt able to focus on the class discussion. One day when I was browsing craigslist for Datsuns because I thought I was ready for one, I saw the same car. It was like a calling t…

Hey guys, ive seen every post online on cutting out the spindle side bushing and that is an easy/obvious busbi g replacement procedure for me but I'm scratching my head on the frame side bushing. The bolt that is on the end with a massive washer is off. So I can see the knurled face of part of it and the tube which is part of the control arm. But what's the plan to pull this thing off? Never dealt with a bushing this style before just standard press out or burn out jobs. Any info is appreciated. Sent from my SM-N950W using Tapatalk

I recent discovered that the titled grommet/Bellows has a rip in it. was looking for a replacement. Talked to Steve (NIX240 IIRC) about the one he has for a 240z, we measured and determined that it was not the correct size. Same goes for the power antenna pad grommet that I am also on the hunt for. I am trying to make sure to keep the water out from that area, seems like both those are crucial. For now I have used some butyl rubber sealant around the pad but would prefer a better cleaner solution. Any leads on these parts?
