I'm new to the Datsun 240z scene I just rescued a 71 240z out of a Ridgecrest junk yard The car is complete and almost perfect besides the half asked paint job and rocker rust. The car was originally red then blue and now silver. From the looks of it, it was worked on in 2007 ish from recipets found in the car. No paperwork no plates just a vin number Vin number is hls30-37893 Car has 280zx wheels with an autopower cage Car has a rebuilt engine with a 5 speed I'm guessing it's rebuilt because of how clean an fresh it looks with it new parts such as dist. I had a friend tip me off that he found a 240z in the junkyard with bumpers still on it. He saw 240z badges so I know it's the skinny bumpers. I plan to grab the bumpers, maybe the blinkers and tail light panels and the steering wheel. What else should I get? I have a 280z, wondering if I should get the hood or any other parts, I don't need much for my car as it's pretty complete.

I will be painting a 1970 car soon and would like to bring it back to factory appearance as much as my knowledge and memory will allow but I cant remember which bolts were painted from the factory. The body shop wants to paint all of them if they are visible. But I don't think Nissan did that back then. The bolts that run along the inside of the fender that fasten the top of the fender to the chassis (between the fender and the hood). Where those painted or left unpainted? They've been like this for quite some time now. I just look away when I go under to change the oil. Of course the right thing would be to replace them correct? Do you think they are beyond repair or the consideration of repair? Both sides pretty much look this way. Some of you are probably shaking your head right now. Saying "repair?!" I know some of you have replaced them but I see nothing on how pricey it was. Taking suggestions here. I'm assuming it's a lot of work--remove carpet on the inside so they don't catch on fire, etc, etc. And if better pics are needed I can get her up in the air to take some.

I have a mallory dist for my 240Z. It is the mechanical and vacuum adv. type. Does anyone know if the vacuum advance is adjustable? I cannot see inside the vacuum hose nipple if there is an allen screw inside. -Many Mallory dist. have adj. vacuum advance. Thank,s GI

I'm wondering if anyone successfully re-cut key based on the key code from worn out original key? Someone said Dealer only store 10 years of data in the computer, the others say using VIN number lockthmith can re-cut new key. http://forums.nicoclub.com/key-cutting-by-vin-t301243.html My key is worn out and it easily falls off while running engine. I have spare ignition module, but I want to use the original key for door lock and ignition. There is a code on the key one letter and 4 digit number. I wonder whether I can re-cut based on the code somewhere. By the way, this key in the photo is from junkyard old 260z. You can't steal my car…

I bought a pair of window roller guides from zcardepot last year and finally got around to installing them. These attach to the inside top edge of the door underneath the door trim piece and keep a little pressure on the window glass so it doesn't wobble back/forth as the door is closed with the window down. The previous owner had busted the passenger window by slamming the door with the window down years ago, so I figure this would maybe prevent that from happening again. The problem is they leave a streak on the glass after rolling it up/down. I washed the rubber with soapy water, then even tried some diluted degreaser, but it still leaves streaks after a few times…
