Didn’t get any traction with this post in the suspension section. Here goes… Im looking to lower my 72 Z, but not looking to go with coil overs. As far as I can tell, the most common options are: 1. Eibach (not low enough for me and squatting issues) 2. Vogtland (similar to Eibach) 3. MSA performance linear springs. 4. Cutting OE springs (not my first choice, but a choice to get just the right height) My guess is that the MSA springs are the most agresssive drop you can get from an off the shelf spring. Any opinions on this? Anyone with the MSA springs that can chime in with pics/experiences? Here is a link: https://www.thezstore.com/product/4681/new-motorspo…

Just saw this. Maybe I’m late to the game here but this is the first I’ve seen in High Zinc additive. https://www.amazon.com/Castrol-Classic-20W-50-Conventional-Motor/dp/B09QXWLY2Y/ref=pd_rhf_d_cr_s_bmx_gp_la4mehqn_sccl_1_3/139-8531450-3914603?pd_rd_w=kiQ7z&content-id=amzn1.sym.9a6f1177-7e55-462d-bd77-cfaee186750a&pf_rd_p=9a6f1177-7e55-462d-bd77-cfaee186750a&pf_rd_r=XNJ1S7EH8MEJY42D1DAN&pd_rd_wg=0ExCb&pd_rd_r=7f457931-43eb-49a8-9f77-ee3270dc1cf9&pd_rd_i=B09QXWLY2Y&psc=1

oil consumption issue seems to be fixed. I switched to 10/30 VR1 since my oil seemed to be all ways stuck at about 60psi indicated (like it was in bypass all the time) Since going to the lighter oil it looks more normal (maxed at 60psi cold, but will vary with the RPM when warmed up. I had been running 20/50 and or 15/40 with the old oil burner. checked compression warm, all about 185 (throttle closed). This is with dished pistons and the head off a 84 maxima. I would have an occasional miss, I think it was injector harness related, I replaced all the plugs at the injectors, seems to have fixed the intermittent miss. The old ones were pretty beat up, and I notic…

Anyone come up with a halfway elegant solution to separate the fuel rail from getting the transfer of heat from where it's bolted into the engine block? (5 places) I have a 1973 240z that has the Paltech refurbished SU carbs (not the stock flat tops) and when I take it on a 5 or 10 minute drive the fuel rail is hot to touch. Not burn my fingers hot but definitely uncomfortable. Am curious if anyone has built aluminum "stilts" or used the same kind of material that is used as a heat block between the carbs and intake manifold. (See where my finger points in the pic)

Going through my parts stash this afternoon I noticed I have intake manifolds with four different casting numbers, E46, E88, N33, and N36. Seems like I've also seen one in the past with an N37 casting number. This raised a few questions: Are there other casting numbers out there for 240 and 260 carbureted Z cars? Which casting numbers went with which years? Are there any differences between them in terms of flow characteristics? Seems like I've seen some discussion on here in the past with regard to the last question but I can find it with the search function. I'd be interested in answers to all three questions. Thanks guys.

Having some brake issues. Everything new and bled but still had poor pedal. Discovered a difference in the pushrod length between OEM master and aftermarket. I couldn't get the rod to adjust, so I added a shim. That gave me a good pedal, but very hard. I am going to need to rebuild/replace the booster. 1972 7" style booster. Does anyone have any experience with Harman classic brake service? I can get a full rebuild kit for $135 or send it to them and have them rebuild it for $245. Any other thoughts? I would prefer to keep the original style. Motorsport has an exchange service. Just wondering what others have done. Thanks.

Happy 4th everyone! 🇺🇸 And happy 50th birthday to our Z. Not sure how many 240Z's were built after ours, but I'm guessing 260Z production was starting to ramp up. Cheers! 🍻

Does anyone know the origin of the vehicle emission control sticker that was placed on the top right underside of the hood on 240z? Was it installed by the dealer? I am trying to determine which year sticker I should install on my car. I have one of those odd cars that is titled as a '71 but has a build date of 6/70. In my case, the sticker on the car was silver but the printing wore off. So I don't know what year was printed on it. In the case of the green car below, it was also titled as a '71 with a build date of 5/70 but I really don't want to assume based on one car. Did the dealer install these? Thanks Gary

I'm doing an interior restoration on my late 71 and when I pulled the rear interior panels found a mess of the vapor tank hoses. Seems the previous owner decided to patch work as best he could to ready for sale a combination of original braided hoses and all types of couplers and adapters to just make it work. To be fair, there is no smell of gas so his connections seem to be nice and tight but I just can't let myself leave it that way after seeing it. One issue I do have though, which may be unrelated, is that if the car sits for several weeks (especially in the hot 100 degrees days of Sacramento), I seem to get vapor lock and the mechanical pump struggles keeping the…
