Hello! Im looking at buying a 1975 280z. I found one for sale for $5500. Its a 75 280z with a 4 speed manual. 76000 miles on original motor. I got to test drive the car today. All of the gears work well, it shifts really smoothly and drives really well. Headlights and side lights were just replaced, blinkers work just fine. Gauges are all there and work. A/c isnt working but thats normal. Problems: 1. the driver seat is a little rough2. theres no carpet3. The car drives just fine up until about 3500 rpm and then struggles. Owner said he adjusted the timing and it helped a little but the problem is still there. I would like to know if this is potentially a big issue or jus…

I got a good deal on a 2 owner matching numbers car that is complete and very minimal rust. The only downside is the automatic. My plan is to restore to factory condition, but I'd like to swap for the manual. Plenty of resources online about doing that, but.... I want to understand the impact on the value. If I put a factory 4 SPD that is year correct is that as good as it being an original manual car? Does it matter to the value? Would I even need to mention it was swapped to a manual or is at as good as original? I'm sure if I jump to a 5 SPD it's no longer 'original' but what does that do to the value? Lastly, leaving it auto, would I be above or below the manu…

This is an unpleasant subject not talked about very much for obvious reasons but nonetheless its something to pause and think about. I personally think the car did pretty good considering what happened to the z. Tboned @ 60 and he survived! "Well its going to be a good while before I can make any progress on the car or the thread. I was in a major car wreck about 5 weeks ago and unable to do anything with cars. My friend and I (friend driving) were t-boned at 60mph and rolled for 110 ft. My friend only got a srape on his forehead. I was not so lucky as the vehicle that hit us was on my side. I had my right lower leg broken and had a titanium rod put in. …

hello my friends Thought to open a new topic rather than continue my Z progress in the introduction area...you can see how I started there Introduction This is a copy of my last reply in the introduction... sorry to duplicate it but I have to start this topic with something I knew it was going to be a slow progress due to the lack of time... I do all the things on my own and since I have a family with two little boys, the time for my Z is very limited. So, all this time I did the following tasks Removed the factory tar insulation to check for hidden rust Epoxy primer everywhere... Then painted original s…

1972 240Z, automatic, with aftermarket AC. ISSUE: Between approx. 1100 to 1800 rpm when the motor is at operating temp., the engine will; cough, sputter, miss through the back/rear carb and it makes it hard to leave stop signs. As soon as it hits 1900 to 2k rpm it takes off like crazy and runs perfect. it is a fast car for what it is. This is my fourth Z but my first three were brand spanking new with no troubles except for my 74 260 that hated cold weather in South Dakota. I also had a 71 240Z, automatic and a 76 280Z 5 speed, all back in the 70s new. I got this Datsun 240Z in November 2016. I have had this trouble all along only so much worse I when I…

Hey guys, I finally got my 1978 Datsun Running. If youve been following my problem in the fuel injection section, you should know that this car has already been a headache. Anyways. This car was a 5 speed swap. Not sure if out of a ZX or just a Z. Ive got a 5 gallon bucket of 80-90w gear oil sitting in front of me, will this work? Ive read about GL4 and other weights, but this stuff is free and works good (My stepdad owns 15 tractors and this is all he ever uses). Ive read that you can use 80-90w, but I didnt know if there was a difference between the ZX and Z trannys as I dont know which this is. Thanks
