I am going to refresh the Rats Nest EFI system on my 77 280Z. I have a spare intake and would like to shave the EGR and then have it powder coated. I'm interested in how others have done this. Also, debating on which fuel rail to get to replace my old 3 piece unit, either a 78 (or newer) single piece rail or get Palnet to make one up for me. Appreciate any thoughts on pros/cons.

Here in japan LHD Z is minority.Even journalists do not know much about DATSUN 240Z.Every car magazine talks about only RHD fairlady Z.I think we(japanese people)must know about how much Zs are welcomed outside of Japan and Z was aimed for international market when plan had began. Some people(around 50years old) here points in 1969 Z was too great to own for japanese ordinaly people.Because not only its high price for 2 seater but also great driving peformance.Z was a car like ferrari F355 for today. But Z was not a car like that in the U.S. and other country. So when japanese people study the fact of the Z car,it is neccesary to study the DATSUN 240Z,I think. So I am tryin…

I have a 77 280Z, the car runs fantastic but the EFI looks really tired. The exterior of the car is pretty well complete along with suspension being rebuilt. So at some point I would like to refresh the EFI, get the old parts that were Cad plated re-plated, replace all the hoses, have the intake powder coated etc. etc. I have taken a ton of pics to help with reassembly. I also have essentially a complete extra EFI intake with much of the hardware. One of the things that scares me a bit is, will I be able to get the intake and exhaust manifold off the car without shearing one or more of the studs. Any thoughts on that other than trying to soak everything with …

Recently rebuilt 2.4 with a super tight timing chain, I started off new in #2 hole on cam sprocket. It seems like I might be losing some power with that setting and want to go with hole #1. Would that loosen the chain up a little? Relieve some of the strain? Thanks for any help/direction.

I have a local guy who is looking for a 240Z hood. I have several that are used and will need paint, but not rusted or bent. What is a fair price? I have no idea what the hoods are going for these days. Thanks!

In my never ending quest to get the car back to as orig as possible, I found I was missing a hard line that connects the fuel rail to the CSV. I was able to locate one, a bit rusty but otherwise in good condition. Its sitting in some evap or rust will be installing it later. I had just a long piece of FI rubber tubing there. I also finally figured out about the mystery grommet on the driver side quarter, the antenna drain. I am pretty sure its not connected as I can not see any tube sticking out, so I will be pulling the plastic cover off to get at it and figure out where the tube went. I found a rubber cover for the fuel pump wire nuts, but only one. so will s…

Hey folks, I need a little help. Can someone with a 280Z with a stock front bumper, go measure how far it protrudes forward from the front edge of the hood? See the attached photo... Don't worry about the rubber over riders, I am just worried about the main metal part... I am asking because the rules for my race car allow me to change bumpers provided they do not extend more than 1/2" beyond the original... Not that I really want a bumper, but it allows me to do put a big splitter on, providing it doesn't extend beyond the bumper... Thanks in advance. Tom

Hi all. I've been on the hunt for a Z for a while and finally brought one home. I live in the mid-atlantic where good cars are scarce so the net was cast far and wide. I ended up finding a decent car within an hour of home. I'll call it driver quality and a project that I can drive while I work on it. It's got rust as you would expect, but in places I consider fairly minor. Rear quarters, left front fender over the wheel well and minor spots at the bottom of the doors. Frame rails, floor pans, and battery tray are solid. It's been repainted once with a custom color over the original wine red #611. The PO included a NOS left front fender and the replacemen…
