Hello friends, The time has come for me to try and sell my 280Z. I never imagined I would ever want to sell it but I am in the process of starting a new business and need the space and money. I'm wondering how much you think it's worth. I know it's a tricky market and I don't want to overprice and scare away people but definitely don't want to cut myself short either. Here is what I have to give you an idea. It's a 75 280z that has been completely restored top to bottom. Completely disassembled. Put on a rotisserie, all rust was removed. Body work and paint done professionally. 240z bumpers and front fascia installed All suspension components powd…

I'm hoping someone can help me understand the avance cures in the FSM. I have a D612-53 distributor on my 1972 Z, I've attached the the page from the FSM showing the mechanical advance curves for the D612-52 that I understand has the same curve. The inital timing should be 5 degrees BTDC and the mechanical advance should max out at 24 degrees for a total maximum of 29 degrees at 3000 rpm. Now the question I have is the advance curve in the manual shows two curves one at a max of 13 degrees and one at 10 degrees and I understand you add them together to get the maximum cetrifugal mechanical advance of 23 or 24 degrees. But why two curves and why are they different?…

I did search but did not find a good answer. I have a 1975 280z FI all stock 280z. Has the EGR and catalytic converter with the warning lable on the fuel gauge "unleaded fuel only" I have also been reading about valve seats being made from softer materials on the N42 due the running of leaded fuel (non Cali cars I assume). So is it likely that California cars had the hard steel valve seats? Just wondering. I do run unleaded ethanol free and all seems good.

Linked this Speedhunter article elsewhere, but their technique for finding interior exhaust leaks midway through seemed worth its own mention: http://www.speedhunters.com/2016/10/ole-orange-bang-hanging-z-guys/

Anyone know if 240Z hood hinges are identical to the hood hinges used in the later 280Z's?

I recently got a dirt bike and I'm considering installing a tow ball or some kind of hitch on my '75 to be able to take the bike out to the trails. All the threads on this topic are very old, and the U-haul website which apparently makes one for the Z is down. I'm looking for something non-permanent that bolts up without welding or cutting. My Z is too nice to be defiling.

Today I insured my '72 with Classic Collectors insurance by Infinity for $129 a year. $500 deductible on comprehensive, collision and uninsured motorist with a stated value of $20,000. 6,000 miles per year total, I MAY put 2 to 3,000 on it in one year. Very pleased with this. My agent didn't offer Hagerty's but I don't see how there could be much difference. Tomorrow I'm going to add my '77 and hopefully get a multiple car discount. With the vintage tags at $10 each for life and this incredibly low rate I can't imagine selling either one now. 280 for the highway, 240 for around town.

Unfortunately, another vendor will no longer be serving the Z community. Black Dragon Auto has announced that as of the December 31, 2016, they are done with Datsuns. They were never the best, but I have bought a lot of parts from them over the years. It was always nice to have options.
