I want to replace the aged master cylinder caps on my 1978 280Z. Since that was the first and only year for the fluid level sensors in the S30s MC caps, there don't seem to be any NOS replacements that I can find. Can't locate any references on this forum either. Several options have come to mind: NOS caps (have not been able to find any), using a ZX cap (fitment?), taking the stock ones apart and re-plating the metal cap only, using a previous years' Z cap and transferring the sensor mechanism (don't know if they will be compatible), using billet cap covers (but the ones I've located don't seem to be specific for the 1978 MC). I would appreciate any experiences…

So I finally got my Z back on the road after a total rebuild but have a couple of springs that I can't figure out where they go. I have a feeling the smaller one goes with the steering rack, but I've looked through the FSMs and threads here and can't find any picture showing this spring. It's actually kind of baffling since I don't see how it can have any normal spring function since it can't be compressed or twisted. Perhaps it is used as a spacer?? Captain Obvious: do you recall anything like this during your rack rebuild? The second spring appears to be used in a twisting application, but I can't recall where it came from. I've taken about 400 pictures o…

I just looked at a 72 and am trying to come up with a fair price and to see if it is worth the trouble. I think the car is too good to part out. However.... First: the bad: it has been crunched in the front. The hood, front valence, and right fender are toast and the windshield is cracked. The front radiator support is slightly bent, but looks like it could be straightened out. The car was originally white, but is now grey, so it will require a respray. The original red interior will need new seat covers, and although serviceable now, at least the passenger floorboard will need to be replaced at some point. There is minor bubbling around the rear wheel arches…

I see it every day, and even more at night: people with fog lights on when it's a day (or night) with fair weather, and no snow rain or FOG. But people still drive with the fog lights ON. The problem is that about 50% of them are aimed badly, and it shines at an oncoming driver. Some are extremely bright, and blinds the oncoming driver! In Ohio where I am, it's definitely illegal to use them, unless the weather conditions require it, but people still turn them, or leave them, ON. I'll bet the "salesman" (obviously an expert driver) recommended to young people that it's a "safety" advantage to sell automobiles, and they tell it to everybody else, w…

Hey guys, I've been spending some time cleaning up the engine bay (76 280Z), while my radiator is at the shop being repaired. I've replaced a couple EFI clamps and spent time cleaning the ones used for the radiator overflow tank. I've tried searching the net and seeing if I can see whether the locations in the pictures (smaller hoses) are supposed to be wire clamps or EFI style? They are all coolant lines. Any help would be great. Cheers! ~Matt

I am starting a new thread for my restoration. I'll link to other work I have done. I didn't like the title of the other one and the typo annoyed me. I have finished with the driver side door and light scoops. The passenger side scoop was an ebay acquisition that needed a lot of love. Too bad I don't have a before picture. Enjoy!

The TV show "What's my Car Worth" featured a '74 260Z yesterday Oct 5 2016. They came up with $15,000 for that particular 260Z.

i am near the point of needing a camshaft, as i hope to have the head back from the shop this week. kind of hard to make a decision, but i have narrowed it down to 2. so, my question is are any of you using either of these, and if so, how do you like it. my engine is a l24 that is .75mm over and the pistons are .5mm out of the block. the head is a E31 with 280 valves. i have weber carbs, 3-2-1 header and pertronix ignition and a fidanza flywheel. http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=1153&sb=2 http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/cam-specs/Details.aspx?csid=1152&sb=2 thanks all sb

i have gotten so used to having to order parts for this car that i almost cost myself a lot of $$. i need a water pump, so went on-line to order one. that was dumb! look at the cost difference here. less than 1/2 the price and no shipping. they dont have it in stock, but it will be there in the morning. http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/classic15t/16-7021 http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/carquest-water-pump-new-t1070/5760232-P?searchTerm=water+pump&zoneAssigned=1&prefStoredSet=1&prefZC=97470
