It's been so hot this past week and my Camry sits in the heat. I must get rid of one of my Zs and free up a garage spot. 918 is staying, so either 110 or 305?

Hi everyone, I recently tried to get my 1978 280z inspected, but the wipers were so painfully slow they wouldn't pass it. I did some reading and ended up removing the motor to diagnose the problem. My understanding is that it was likely one of two things: Motor turning too slowly Linkage stuck or too tight After removing the motor and checking everything out, it seems to me that the motor is moving plenty fast, and the linkage moves very easily by hand as well. I've uploaded a small video showing the motor speeds here: Does everything seem normal? If so, any other ideas on why it's wiping so slow once everything is put back …

I was sitting inside and we had a sudden rain shower (central florida has very unstable weather in the summer). So I grab the keys and took of for my cruise around the neaborhood. I have been avoiding the rain like the plague and still would not purposely take a joy ride on a rainy day, but I realize that if I am to enjoy the car there will be times I get caught in it. I wanted to see if the recently sealed front windshield was water tight. Good news not a drop anywhere to be found!! I looked in all the normal places and it was bone dry. Happy days!

Don't know if this has been covered but thought I would share. I had a crack thru the side of my center console (near ash tray), I used some scrap ABS from a donor piece of plastic (wanted to make sure it was the same stuff as used on my Z) and two products that I can say worked very well. ZAP brand "plasti-zap" medium CA glue, use this to rejoin broken pieces. just a tiny bit and careful alignment, hold together as tight as possible. in about 10-20 seconds it should hold fast. Plastruct brand "plastic weld" gen purpose solvent glue. this comes in a glass bottle with self contained brush on the cap. I swiped the back of the console and the front of the scra…

So, this might be a good time to start posting photos of what I've been doing for the passed couple of months. Organizing, labelling, ordering, cleaning, etc. Work seems like it's been slow, but I was left with kind of a huge mess when I started this resto. Things were bagged accordingly for the most part, but left rusty, unfinished, or painted the wrong colour. Which for a resto is quite the opposite of what's desired. I am going to post more photos as it moves along, but here are some photos of everything I've tumbled so far. Will post photos of other items soon and other work soon. A lot of organizing, so it's kind of the un-fun stuff! I'll have to acquire perm…

...Goes Unpunished! A few weeks ago I swapped out the transmission fluid for the magic elixir ACDelco Friction Modified stuff. And it seems the transmission is shifting more smoothly. I guess that stuff is really slippery as I've now developed a fluid leak at the speedometer cable right where the black housing is fitted into the pressed collar. I guess a new speedometer cable is called for, right? Is it normal for this connection to have transmission fluid present or is there some other seal I should also be replacing? Thanks, Jim

Finally got around to installing a set of JDM tail lights (thanks HR369) after freshening them up a bit. Also freshened up a calendar clock I obtained from Greg as well and put that in my instrument cluster with a few "details" done to match the instruments.

Back story: 1971 240z. Believed to be very stock and has sat in storage since early 80's. Being put back together by me. Has sat on jacks since Oct of 2015. Was driven/rolled into the garage by me at that time. Did light driving and seemed okay, but nothing at speed where the suspension would go through a large travel range. Since then the relevant work I have done to this area is changing the rear differential fluid (Red Line 75W90NS) and serviced the rear brakes: new cylinders, new hardware, new hard and soft lines at the corners. rebleed. Reused existing shoes and drums. Checked function of parking brake. ----------------------- So, I put the wheels b…

Hey guys I'm brand new to the forums. I've been wanting to get an S30 for a while now just haven't been able to find one for the right price. I just wanted to get your opinions on this car I'm looking at. Looking at the add he obviously doesn't like people asking about rust on his car but says the frame is good and the car will run. Is it worth it? Body work and stuff I can deal with I just don't know how much structural damage there might be without actually getting to look at it myself and I'm pretty far away from where he is at. Any help would be appreciated thank you. https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/5623188033.html

I have been working to stop a slow drip leak from near my fuel sending unit, stock 76 280z. When I fill the tank above about 3/4, I get a slow drip from that area. It is hard to tell if it is the o ring or the elec. connectors, or maybe a hole in the top of the tank? I have installed the new o ring, and also a new locking nut. I also put some JB waterweld around the electrical connectors on the outside (I didn't want the chance of putting anything on the inside in case it fell off into the tank). No leaks right now, since the tank is about 1/2 full. Is there a special tool for these lock rings? I used the screwdriver/hammer method. There is a small…
